Effective June 11th, Brave has halted the referrals program in China, Indonesia, Russia, Ukraine, and Vietnam citing fraudulent activities as a reason. The creators in these countries, new and old, will no longer be able to earn rewards for the referrals they make. However, this isn't a permanent move and referral system will start again i these countries once they find a solution to curb those fraudulent activities.

Further, from the 11th of June, you will now require a verified uphold account to make referrals. This is a setback to some people who prefer to be anonymous. However, they can still use Brave freely and earn from ads and tip their favorite creators. Brave said that this is a necessary measure that needed to be taken to curb fraudulent activities.
Initially, the referral rewards were capped at $1 million in BAT tokens but because of its huge success, Brave decided to continue it. There are more than 15 million users using Brave browser monthly and the number keeps on growing.
I think there will be slight slowness in the growth of Brave browser as many creators will stop recommending Brave to new people. However, there are plenty of people willing to do ID verification to earn some bucks and maybe, it won't be a big dent after all.

Referrals have never been profitable for me... Most only download, and those that also install, don't use it for 30 days because a lot of sites are broken with Brave, even though they work with Chrome.
I'm not really surprised Indonesia got blacklisted as recently there has been a few cases where Indonesian cryptocurrency community has tried to cheat on exchange listing votings.
With services like Google Mail, it is very easy to generate large number of e-mail addresses that are actually aliases for same account just by adding dots in between other characters.
In Vietnam, I have seen people having up to 200 barebone PCs just for hoarding cryptocurrencies...

I don't know about the sites but I never had any issues using Brave, works pretty well for me.
Some sites have worked when I have disabled Brave Shields, some didn't... I try to keep my Brave up-to-date but I don't always restart it when I'm middle of doing some important as sometimes updating has broken features or sites instead of fixing them...
I never thought this Brave browser and BAT earning was real because most times I try to use it, it bounces back, I first thought its network but it keeps reoccuring. I hope I'm not doing the wrong thing.
I don't know what you are talking about but I have had no issues using Brave.
Maybe, you should give it another try.
