ON THE THIRD DAY…
Of my Rising Star journey that is. I didn’t create all the birds and the bees or anything. Just playing some open mics and stuff… you know how we do. I’m just about to reach level 7! So I guess I’m doing a lot better in digital world than I did in the real world. I mean I got past the open mic stage irl, but it took more than 3 days.
All this “Illegal Busking” activity really brings me back to the good old days. When the first trio that I played with seriously had first started playing together, We used to busk a lot. My buddy had an upright piano up on wheels that a local bar let us keep in their storage area and gave him a key in return for playing there once a week. So we would wheel that thing around town and the drummer had a suitcase that he would carry his gear in and then use as a kick drum. I would play upright as loud as I possibly could. We weren’t amazing but the energy was great, we had a funky second line kind of vibe going and people dug it. This was us:

So one day we were playing on a corner and this power tripping turd burger gives us all $200 tickets! Thats $200 each. We were out there in ties and shit playing jazz and the asshole fined us 600 dollars. There were no complaints. Some people were actually tipping us twenties as they walked by while the cop was harassing us to show their support. I guess I’m still a bit heated about that.
That was in Santa Cruz Ca. They are basically being payed off by big tech to cancel the culture that used to be there of hippies and transients and surf bums so the Google execs from silicon valley can tear everything down and move in and don’t have to smell the great unwashed. Officer Turdburger is just one more order follower. A slave keeping the rest of the slaves in check. Personal responsibility is the only road to freedom boys and girls. You are responsible for your actions, not your “superiors” so better hurry up and learn to think for ourselves.
Anyways…
I guess I got a little sidetracked there. What I meant to say is I’m kicking ass at Rising Star and this is just the beginning! So if you’ve got any hints tips and or tricks to help a brotha out with week one of the grind, let me know below. What cards might be the best beginner purchase?
