There is no reason to not do the music lesson with the most skill points rewarded and there are no achievements for doing those lessons. So most people tend to focus on one or two different instruments. There are some people who specifically trade the ones they don't use for the ones they do. Of course, you will definitely want to find someone trustworthy.
