Today we are checking out four early 80s records that end up kinda post-new wave avant rock electro territory...hopefully something new for you!

Brian Eno/David Byrne
"My Life in the Bush of Ghosts"
1981

this is kind of a funky electro world fusion 80s records that blends spoken word samples with early 80s production -byrnes first album after talking heads.

Dr Knew's Music
"The Incredible Collection"
1983

Compilation record on RCA featuring Nona Hendryx, Eurythmics and a bunch of groups ive never heard of before! This album is from the great era of early 80s when the art, punk, and hip hop scene in new york was overlapping, and before the 80s cheese and hip hop exploitation got out of control.

Home and Garden
"How I spent my vacation"
1982

Side project of Cleveland avant-punk legends, pere ubu. this one has a minimal ambient-noise post-rock vibe

Hawkwind
"friends and relatives"
1982

now i'm not here to argue whether this is an authentic hawkwind release or not, but i will share one of the spacier sounding tracks, as opposed to the 80s sounding stuff. it kind of remind me how the animals put out a record on IRS records in around this time that sounds pretty new wave

i hope you liked my post!
