Some more Guitar Gods

A few weeks ago I wrote a post for #MusicMonday listing some of my favorite guitar players, whom I lovingly called Guitar Gods. Because there are so many of them that I couldn't fit in a single post, I decided to turn it into a series so today I'm bringing Guitar Gods part 2 to MusicMonday!

There were a few suggestions of guitar players in the comments on the last post and I promise they will all be featured in the series at some point but I'll not be including them all today.

So let's get this list started! I hope you all enjoy it.

Gary Moore (Still Got the Blues)

This was actually one of the suggestions by @nbarrios67 on my first post of the series. Mr. Moore is considered one of the best guitar players in history and he really made it big during the 70's and 80's and also influenced many other guitarists that came after him. His music had elements of Hard Rock, Progressive Rock, and a lot of Blues. Garry, unfortunately, passed away 10 years ago but he left us a lot of masterpieces, such as this one.

Joe Bonamassa (The Ballad of John Henry)

Joe Bonamassa is the ultimate guitar nerd. The guy has a collection that consists of a few hundred guitars and amps and he even has his own museum, which he appropriately named Nerdville. He's not only a collector and admirer of the electric guitar, however, but also a master guitarist who took the blues school to a whole new level. He's done a lot of music in collaboration with other musicians and also has a very successful solo career. He is one of my favorite guitar personalities of the present.

Rory Gallagher (Black Penny)

Rory was the guy that other guitar players looked up to. I mean, can you imagine Jimi Hendrix saying that someone is the greatest guitar player ever? Well, that's exactly what he said about Rory. He could also play a variety of instruments and his musical repertory was very broad, but he really made his name playing his unique electrified blues thing, which he did like no one else. It's kinda odd that a lot of younger people don't really know much about Rory, since he was a god among gods.

Easter egg: If you pay attention you may realize that the guitar that Rory is playing on this video is very similar to the one that Joe's playing on the previous one. Well, that's because it is the very same guitar. Joe was able to borrow this legendary instrument for his performance at the Royal Albert Hall. Such a lucky guy!

Kiko Loureiro (Angra - Carry On)

Kiko Loureiro is known nowadays for being the lead guitarist of the Thrash band Megadeth but because I'm a proud Brazilian, just like him, I chose to feature him with the band that made him famous. Angra is a Brazilian Power Metal band and it was with them that Kiko started to make a name for himself. He is considered one of the world's best guitar players and you can see why on this incredible live performance.

And that will be it for the second part of Guitar Gods and this week's #MusicMonday. I still have many more guitar players that I want to feature so you can be sure that there will be more posts in this series. I hope you enjoyed this post!

What are some of your favorite guitar gods? Let me know in the comments and maybe they will appear on a future post!
