It looks like plenty of worms die on the pavements and they do a lot of good to the soil, so it seems the right thing to do.
I have a band session on Sunday too that I need to prepare for. These things creep up on me. I've not done an open mic in a while, but they are always fun.

I've never done one, but I wouldn't mind it if there was a place in town that held an open mic event.
There was a group who would come into my local, Ernies - it's a nice place and good for a quite one.
Rarely they'd have any music, but on a Thursday night a group would call in and do an accoustic jam session which was a kind of free for all for anyone to bring an intrument and join in.
I only ever listened to them and enjoyed the craic from afar. Then the 'head' of it moved away and the others stopped coming in, which was a shame.
I started a local acoustic jam years ago and met lots of musicians that way. Several bands formed through that. One of them runs this open mic. He just asked the landlady if she was happy to do it. Some of the pubs around here are quiet otherwise during the week, so they welcome the business. Starting that session is one of the best things I ever did as it led to so much more.
That's deadly man, you're a musical pioneer. I've often had an idea to start up something for a few years now, we did work on a few nights upstairs in a place here, but after a few sessions it fell through, it can sometimes be tough to get people out of the house to music nights.
But the reason the thought has always stuck with me is some of the reactions afterward. Most people complain that they didn't hear about it or whatever, so I think setting up gig nights is all about choosing a night a month and sticking to it, just for people to get used to the idea of it being on.
There's always issues with venue and timing, but you just have to press on. Sometimes there would just be 3 of us, but it was still fun. I think a lot of people really want to get out and play. You just need to create a welcoming atmosphere and get the word out. Somehow people found us from a wide area.
