There was a welfare general meeting at work yesterday, and the chaos that erupted? I've never seen something like that before. And I totally understand why people were so angry.
So the chairman of the welfare committee is actually this rude lady who talks to everyone anyhow she likes. The correct way to describe this is she talks to everyone like she's the one feeding them. Yes, that's what I've witnessed and the comment I've heard from people.
According to the financial account she and her team came to make for us, something was missing somewhere. Everything was totally off. From the collection of the welfare dues to the losses incurred. For example, two years ago, they got a total of Gh34,000 from dues collection, but the year after that, they got Gh19,000.
How can you tell me this story? When the number of people who were paying their welfare dues doubled? Okay, this is beginning to look like a rant, so let me just look in the direction I started with.
So after they finished with their lies, everyone got angry. Because word had already gotten out that she was stealing from the welfare account. And further investigation proved that all the money that went missing was being invested in her new business.
That's what made people angry because how can someone contribute to welfare and you will use that money for your personal use? And you know the worst part? When people in dire need approach her for help from the welfare committee, she always turns them down.
This whole incident reminds me of something my mom said the other time about one of the richest men in Ghana. The man is so humble and kind even with all the money he has. So my mom said something about the whole of Ghana will probably defend him even if he does something wrong.
I’m not saying it’s a good thing, but it’s true. If she wasn’t rude and was rather respectful and kind, I’m sure people wouldn’t have been so angry about what she did.
She just reminds me of the kind of national leaders we have, and I really hope she never gets to be one. If not, the country will just turn upside down and become empty.
