My life experience I can't forget

in HiveGhana2 days ago

Good evening HiveGhana, welcome to my blog, am so happy to join the community, am a newbie and this is my first post.

I will never forget the night my university lodge was attacked by armed robbers. It was a terrible experience that still sends shivers down my spine. Then I was living with my roommate at that time, but that very week she had traveled home for the weekend, leaving me all alone in the room.

At around 1 am, I was awake by loud noises and voices crying and shouting. At first, I thought i was having a bad dream, but as I looked out the window, I realized with horror that the gate was wide open and security man was nowhere to be found. It was then i knew we were being attack.

I was scared and confused at the same not knowing what to do, i tried to hide my valuables. I quickly hid my cellphone on top of the wardrobe and my laptop in a safe place. I then removed the SIM card from my phone and hid it under my pillow, hoping to avoid being hurt or raped if the robbers broke in.

I was terrified, not knowing what to do or where to hide. The tension was unbearable, and I was paralyzed with fear. I tried to escape through the back door, but the security wire on the fence made it impossible. I was trapped no where to hid or run to because am living at the second floor of the building, i can't even jump from there.

With no way out or hope, I started praying and begging God to save me from the hands of the robbers. As they finished robbing and were about to leave, I breathed a sigh of relief, thinking I had been spared. But fate had other plans.

A stupid mistake by another student, who hid in front of my door after being chased by the robbers, drew their attention back to my room. They climbed up and broke down my door, entering with guns and cutlasses. They asked for my money, phone, and laptop, and when I told them I didn't have any, they threatened to kill me.

Fearing for my life, I handed over my laptop and phone. They ordered me and the girl who had hidden in my room to lie face down, and they left the lodge. The robbery attack was chaotic - students were injured, and valuables were stolen like expensive jewelries, laptops house gadgets and so forth. The one that pained me most was the death of a recent engineering graduate, shot dead for refusing to give up his laptop containing vital information.

The experience was so traumatic that I wouldn't wish it on my worst enemy. The police failed to take action, despite our report, and it was clear that we were on our own. The incident left me shaken, and it took me a long time to recover from the shock.

Even now, the memory of that night still haunts me, a pure reminder of the fragility of life and the importance of cherishing every moment.

What a terrible Scene to experience, thank God it wasn't more than your laptop and phone.

That must have been so horrible! Situations like these, even though traumatizing, tend to show us how fragile life is. We should cherish and make good use of every moment because we have no idea what’s next most of the time.
