Good day, amazing people of the Hive Blockchain. Welcome back to my blog. It is another edition in the #hiveghana community. I am so delighted to participate in this week's prompts on friendship.
Friendship is one thing I value so much. No matter how independent you want to be, you need one or two friends to spice up your life. When it comes to people I call my friend, I am always careful because they are capable of building and destroying. I am not the type of person that just picks friends; there are things I look out for before I call you my friend.
You see this thing called friendship? It comes with a lot of sacrifices. You should be able to stand by your friend in hard times. You see, this thing called a true friend is hard to come by; when you come across one, you should value and respect such a friend.
When it comes to criteria for choosing friends, it is always different, and that is normal because we have what we look out for. I always tell my siblings, ‘Don’t choose a friend because you want to; look out for someone who will motivate and inspire you.’ There is a popular saying, 'Show me your friend, and I will tell you who you are,' which means people we call our friends play a vital role in our life. You can talk to many people but pick only a few friends who you see potential in.
For someone like me, I don’t believe in having thousands of friends; I have few friends who really understand the word 'friendship'.
My criteria in friends.
God-fearing: this is the first thing I look out for. You must be God-fearing because without our creator we are not. We should grow in the things of God while planning a brighter future.
Supportive: we should be able to support each other in times of need. You should be a shoulder I can cry on in difficult moments, and I will receive words of encouragement that will keep me going. True friends should be able to stand by each other both in times of plenty and in times of lack. As your friend, I should rely on you.
Trust: I don’t joke with this particular one. You, as my friend, I should be able to trust with my life. Hide my secret; even when we have issues, my secret should be safe with you.
You must be judgemental; you should be able to take me the way I am. Don’t judge me at every slight mistake I make if you need to correct me. I love being corrected with love rather than being judged.
So far so good. I am blessed with a good set of friends who really understand the meaning of the word 'friendship'. We create memories together and motivate, inspire and support each other. True friends are hard to come by; if you have one, value and respect them.

STOPLife probably becomes easier and meaningful when you have the right people by your side. Not everyone around you deserves to be called a friend. As you said, friendship can either build or destroy. It's better to have a true friend than to have a crowd of people who are fake. I also don't have many friends, but the few I have are really special to me. Thanks for sharing this 💛
