Creating meaningful social impacts has been one of the most significant achievements of the Hive blockchain and ecosystem. The innovative solutions introduced by Hive are actively in action, and we've witness their real impact through the Hive Empowers Communities projects. This project contributes to social change by providing clean water to communities that have faced challenges in accessing it. Under this initiative, 11 boreholes have been successfully constructed and are now fully operational, serving several people each day.
All of these achievements were made possible with the support of the Hive community through @valueplan. Accessing clean drinking water has posed a significant challenge for people residing in deprived communities. In many cases, river bodies and dug wells have been their primary sources of water. Additionally, some communities are compelled to buy water from vendors who transport it from various distant locations to towns.
In all our surveys, we look for such communities and give priority to those who are in dire need of water.This month, we are commencing the construction of yet another borehole in Offinso-Asamankama, located in the Ashanti Region. Offinso is one of the largest towns in Ashanti and includes several villages that currently lack access to water supply from the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL), which provides approximately 77% of the water supply in urban areas. This means that those living in rural areas are out of reach from their supply and find it hard to access potable water.
Our survey reveals that a number of villages are without access to water supply from the company, relying on rivers, dug wells, and dams as their primary water sources. Following a survey of the towns around the Offinso area, we have decided to construct the 12th borehole in Offinso Asamankama.
After the survey, a formal meeting with the town's leaders took place, and they have welcomed the project and look forward to the commencement of construction. They have allocated a portion of land where it would be convenient to have the water facility.
The drillers will now begin their survey of the site allocated for the project, and then the first phase will be initiated. If a successful survey is completed this week, we will break ground for drilling to begin. We acknowledge the warm reception from the chief and the leaders of Asamankama, who are very pleased with the upcoming Hive project in the town. We also acknowledge the Hive blockchain for its tremendous support throughout this endeavor. We will continue to provide updates regarding all project work progress. 11 boreholes? So this will be the 12th? I thought that they made only a few so far, but now it will be literally a dozen of boreholes. Amazing work.
