Bringing Others Into The Blockchain: Some Onboarding Stories

in HiveGhana4 days ago
When it comes to joining the Hive blockchain, many of us are a result of onboarding through someone, directly or indirectly. Yes, many came in as a result of their quest to search for something online they can engage in while others it was by coincidence or accident that they stumbled upon it in the online space. From there, the story is what it is today.

You hear the stories of those who found Hive and onboarded themselves and it is a beautiful one. Thankfully, there is onboarding running through existing users. I believe I am right when I say that most of the members or users on this blockchain today came in as a result of onboarding by someone.

The story is more direct when it involves someone who onboarded themself, but when it involves somebody onboarding another, it can be a bit handful. People have their perspectives in life and their interests. Trying to onboard one person can be easier than another. While I have not really onboarded someone directly, I did bring in some people through a friend.

Not everyone though that I tried to bring in actually got onboarded, and that's where the story is concerning the onboarding. Fortunately, the first person I brought in got onboarded. He did not delay, he took up the opportunity and dove in almost instantly. However, after some time he became unstable. I guess his work affected him.

After that, I was careful about who to bring into the blockchain. Why? Of course, this first one did not continue well. Secondly, the person the onboarding runs through takes them through thorough and necessary lessons concerning the blockchain; the operation, rules, regulations and what is necessary for a newbie at least. I would hate to see his efforts being wasted so I was careful about who to onboard.

Later on, I brought in another who really showed interest and put in the work. That was after observing and assessing that he would take it seriously. Thankfully he did not prove me wrong. But even before him, I tried to bring others after bringing the first person I discussed. I talked to them, they showed interest, said they would get back to me but did not. Well, it is best not to bring in someone who would probably cut off along the way too, right?

The latest one was when I tried to bring Hive to a group of people in my fellowship. I was somehow new there, spent some months only and was hoping to get some onboarded along the way. What drove me more was that most were into music and I felt their music skills could be harnessed for a benefit to them through the blockchain.

Coincidentally even, this particular day, they talked of how we needed to search for financial opportunities and also the need to share helpful opportunities. I had planned to tell them that day, so this was perfect, I thought at least. Long story short, I gave my speech on Hive blockchain, how it can be beneficial to them; to improve their skills, establish connections with new people, give them a voice and financial support. Well, nobody decided to be onboarded.

Recently, after that, I was considering presenting Hive to some other people to be onboarded. While the actions of others might be discouraging, it should not stop me from trying to bring in others who might have been waiting for something or an opportunity like this, which the blockchain offers.

Many of us out of desire to help try to get people onboard without considering the possibility of them being ready to join or willing to take up what it takes to be an hivian.
A lesson learnt the hard way.

A lesson learnt indeed.
I always consider that now that let them know what it takes to be one before even thinking of bringing the person in. It's a lesson learnt.
Thank you.

It takes grace & high level of maturity to be able to think of onboarding new people after having some newbies that are not serious. You'll literally see that someone needs the info but they might not really believe something good can come out of it. I love your last point. You just keep sharing the message of hive, the right ones will definitely appreciate your effort for onboarding or sharing a life changing opportunity like this to them.

Respect to you bruh......

Yes bro, many don't understand and they end up stressing you or make your efforts useless. That's why I choose to be careful about who to bring in now.
We will continue to present it to others. There are those that need this opportunity and shouldn't be denied by the wrong actions of others.

You're right bro. Let's keep presenting it to other's.

One thing I learned in my little onboarding experiment is to be patient and not rush the process. Most people might not have the time or interest now but one thing I know is that for every 10 people onboarded, 1 or 2 would make something tangible out of it.

Hmmm that's true. I guess is best sometimes to give them time. And there are always those who would make something out of it.
