If It's The Last 24 Hours

in HiveGhanayesterday
I remember watching a series where an apocalypse happened. The people were taken unaware; some were outside living life, some were doing their work, others were in the line of duty or service and others sitting or resting in their houses. All were consumed by this apocalypse not minding whatever state they were in or what they were doing.

One person however saw it coming. He could travel in time, and somehow he did that by mistake when he was angry. He ended up in a future he didn't expect. Knowing about that helped him prepare himself and his siblings for the apocalypse which they eluded using his supernatural ability.

Now, the point is, for a thing as an apocalypse which could come unknowingly, a lot of difference could be made when it's known. Maybe that will help us set our houses in order, do the things we had always wanted to but fear stopped us, go to the places we wanted to, get those things we had always wanted and a lot more.

To be caught up in a situation where you know it's the last twenty-four hours could be unsettling. Many of us have plans; to go somewhere, do some project, secure that job, propose to that lady, build that family, investing or expecting returns from an investment, hoping for something and all. From short-term to long-term goals, it means all of that is never actualised.

For me, it could seem unsettling as well. But not much so. My faith has taught me that a day will come when the world will end and I have to be prepared for it. Maybe not in this way; an apocalypse, but I have been taught and raised to prepare for it. What I would use the last twenty-four hours for could be the main deal.

Maybe as a first approach, I'll try to fix, solidify or bridge the human relationships I've had. Relationships are some of the most valuable things we can have. We are meant to live as a blessing to each other. I wouldn't want the world to end knowing I had some people I didn't speak to or reach out to in like forever. People would be up and down in such a time but it would be wise to cherish the people in my life and make them feel so.

Life has not been a bed of roses. Many of us have had dreams that never came alive, though we still keep dreaming. There are things I wish to have like some gadgets which I haven't, and places to go which I haven't been. The last twenty-four hours will be used to gain as much as possible in this regard. I know I can't have it all, but it would be nice to have a little taste.

I would like to tell people in such a time to fix our lives for good. It's an apocalypse right, and we might not know where we are going next. But I figured this is something many people would do themselves. There was a time we heard the world would end and people all of a sudden fixed up their lives. So perhaps, I don't need to or I do.

Then, for the last five hours at least, I'll spend it together with my family. Our hands held together in love and unity during the last hour. The apocalypse might take us, but we'll go together as a family.

Thank you for reading through!

That your movie must be an American movie certainly not a Nollywood, I love your approach to how you would spend yours, from solidifying relationships to getting things you always desired and all that.
Clean and nice write-up

Yes, it's an American series for sure. I figured that's the best I could do in such a time that is soon fleeting.
Thank you very much. I appreciate.

Thank you for the support.

It’s important that while we watch movies simply for the entertainment, we also take time to see those that let our imagination run wild. The movie you just referenced is a great example. It makes you reflect on the “what ifs” until you find your own answers. I truly enjoyed reading it, and I would say that death still comes as a surprise to many of us, without an apocalypse happening. The only difference in your reference is the idea of knowing the exact day and hour of our deaths, and acting like it’s truly our last.

Still, the concept of making reparations just because one knows they’ll die soon feels odd to me, as it often stems from the fear of going to hell. If hell didn’t exist for most people, I doubt many would bother making amends with those they’ve wronged. That alone makes the story thought-provoking, because no one should have to wait for a revelation to do what’s right if they truly wanted to.

Wonderful post, by the way! I love that you’d spend your final day with family. I’d love to do the same, and I hope that wish comes true for both of us.

You made very valid inferences from the post.
Movies open us to some wild imaginations or in other cases some base facts we should be aware of.

I find it intriguing too that people will make such amends when they know they'll soon die. It's not the right way, it's definitely the fear of going to hell. So, what if there's no hell?

I figured what better way in such an occurrence? Thank you very much for the wonderful comment. I appreciate.

You really made me want to watch the movie 🤣. I also think fixing your relationships with people will be good. Thanks for sharing

Maybe you should. Haha. I think that would be good. Thank you for stopping by.

Thanks alot
