COLLECTIVE RESPONSIBILITY FOR AN IMPROVED PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION

in HiveGhana25 days ago

One of the basic facilities any citizen can enjoy is that of an efficient transport system because humans are not designed to be stagnant as movement is one of the major characteristics of life using the acronym "MR NIGER D". In developed countries, the transportation sector is well developed and this contributed alot to their development. However, in developing countries, transportation is still a big issue yet to be improved on as it should.

Transportation can be by road, sea, air or rail. Each of these has its own benefits and disadvantages. Transportation is a big sector which needs collective efforts of both public and private for its efficient working. There is no day any of the means of transport won't be engaged. The most commonly used transportation is the road transport which is what i do use aswell. Some of the experience with road transport especially public buses is not good enough. This is so because of the bad roads, incompetent driving, faulty buses and so on.

I remembered a time i boarded a bus while traveling and it rained, i was drenched due to leaking bus roof. This is one of the few stories of many about the inefficient transportation especially in developing countries. Only few exceptions are of worthy memory which comes at high cost though convenient abit. I believe our government should provide good and motorable roads for its citizens to ease transportation issues. Also, i believe that more needs to be done in enforcement of standards for an effective transportation e.g. off road and bad buses should be removed, all buses should be reassessed yearly for validation.

In addition, government should provide more public transports to the citizens at subsidized rate and to be well managed. Also, i believe we should explore other forms of transportation like seas and rails as seen in most developed countries. For example, in Europe, train facilities play a crucial role in their day-to-day activities. Infact, the train can carry more people and heavy loads thereby reducing the burdens on the road transport. Also, i believe that decentralizing the transport system from the national level to the states level might be helpful as some transport issues requires specific attention.

Another major area i believe should be looked to is to have a fair regulation as concerning the private transport companies by the government because some of their services are poor as they are more concerned with making more money than offering quality service. There should be establishment of parks. terminals and garages for easy loading and offloading/highlighting. We individuals should learn to be orderly as well while boarding buses or other transports. With all these, we will have a good, happy and smooth movements as desired. Thank you for reading, comments, contributions and suggestions are welcomed.

This is my entry to @HiveGhana Weekly-Engagement Week 51 on "PUBLIC TRANSPORTATION". I invite @chidisticks and @mummygo to join in this engagement.

Ahhh the leaking bus experience. If I were to say my experience, I sure could write a book about it. By the time I got to my destination, there was no rain and I was so wet and I looks funny throughout the program.

Wao
So sorry about that, I understand how funny that may look like.
This needs to be worked on by the public transport operators and not just be interested in the money.
Thanks for stopping by

Wow, you've really made a lot of sense in this entry. Nice entry

Thanks so much
I'm so grateful

The private sector needs to be regulated as you have said. Most times car owners are after your money not minding your convenience..
