As the world evolves, so does culture which alters dress. In the olden days in Africa attires really speaks alot about a particular region, they could easily identify each other by the way they dress, and this is mostly linked to culture and religion.
Each continent of the world has a way they dress, some region's dress is as a result of the weather in their country especially the Australian and some parts in Europe, that's why you'll always see them in pull over always especially during winter.

Some countries too also has their way of different deprived from culture and religion especially some parts of Asia like Indian, Japan and China where it is believed that monks are believed to have dedicated their lives to serving people and God.

African countries are well known for their different way of dressing. Before the involvement of trade, hide and skins has been the major form of clothing in Africa, where men where aprons and women wore wraps around their waist and breast, this has been the best way to showcase their beauty, after then came local trade where fabrics are being exchanged for valuable things. This has been the African way for ages and it has been the best of displaying our way of life.

The debate on African and Western dressing is interwoven, I would say they are both beautiful in their ways, it just depends on which one we find more impressive.
In recent ages, Africans are already imitating the western style especially the Americans and Europeans, while the western people too do the same.

I believe every occasion has certain dress fitted for them, since we are already imitating the culture of the west definitely we should dress like them.
Imagine going on a date and putting on ankara or lace, actually no one would penalize you but it just doesn't speak well because the date is an imitation of the western.

No dress is better in my view, it just depends on our mentality.

And so we could basically embrace the western as well as the african culture way of dressing, there are just some occasions that calls for the western style whereas there are others that can only be represent in our local apparel.

That's it, we should embrace all

You're absolutely right. Clothing is a significant aspect of culture and identity across the world. It often reflects not only regional variations but also climate, culture, and religious beliefs. It's fascinating how dress can serve as a visual marker of identity and heritage.
