On this day, I want to bring focus to a vital issue that exists in many regions of Africa, including Ghana: a lack of access to safe drinking water. Despite the hive blockchain's wonderful efforts to provide drinkable water to 14 communities in Ghana, many villages throughout Africa still lack this vital needs.
Imagine if everyone had the resources and commitment to ensure that clean water reaches every part of the world. It is a fundamental human right that should be guaranteed to everyone. However, millions of people suffer and even die as a result of polluted water sources, while others become sick on a regular basis from waterborne infections.
This is where the hive ecosystem really stands out. Through the collaborative efforts and contributions of its members, hive has been able to create and support initiatives that provide clean water to those who are less fortunate. It is inspiring to see the impact of these activities, as smiles return to the cheeks of individuals who previously battled with water scarcity.
I am pleased to announce that hive has committed to building six new water wells in Ghana this year, with two allocated for the northern area. This decision was made in response to appeals from towns experiencing severe water shortages, particularly during the dry season, when rivers completely dry up.
The northern area of Ghana suffers unique challenges in acquiring water, making boreholes even more important. Preparations are ongoing to begin these water well as soon as possible, with the help of community leaders and hive members on site.
