Dr. Ben Carson: A Gifted Author and Surgeon

in HiveGhana3 years ago

Dr. Ben Carson is a remarkable person who has overcome many challenges and accomplished many feats in his life. He is a retired neurosurgeon, an author, and a former politician. He is best known for his pioneering work in separating conjoined twins and performing brain surgery on fetuses. He is also a devout Christian and a conservative leader who ran for president in 2016 and served as the secretary of housing and urban development under President Donald Trump.

Doctor Benjamin Solomon Carson, popularly known as Dr. Ben Carson, is one of my favorite authors and also one of the most renowned neurosurgeons in the world.

Dr. Ben Carson has been my favorite author since my primary school education. He writes in the genre of autobiography, sharing his inspiring life story and his medical achievements. The book that made him my favorite author is Gifted Hands, which was published in 1990 and later adapted into a movie in 2009.

Gifted Hands is a memoir that explains in detail Dr. Carson’s journey from a poor and troubled childhood in Detroit to becoming the director of pediatric neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins Hospital at the age of 33. In the book, he reveals how he overcame many obstacles and challenges, such as poverty, racism, low self-esteem, anger, and poor grades, with the help of his mother, his teacher, and his determination. He also describes some of the most remarkable cases that he handled as a surgeon, such as separating conjoined twins, operating on a fetus inside the womb, and removing half of a brain to cure epilepsy.

I like Dr. Carson and his book for many reasons. First of all, I admire his courage and compassion as a doctor who saves lives and performs miracles. He is not afraid to take risks and try new things, even when the odds are against him. He is also humble and grateful for his gifts and opportunities, and he uses them to help others in need.

Second, I appreciate his honesty and humility as a writer who shares his struggles and failures as well as his successes and triumphs. He does not sugarcoat or exaggerate his story; he tells it as it is. He also acknowledges his mistakes and learns from them. Third, I relate to his faith and values as a person who believes in God and follows His will. He credits God for his achievements and seeks His guidance in his decisions. He also respects and loves his family, friends, colleagues, and patients.

In conclusion, Dr. Ben Carson is my favorite author because he writes in an engaging and inspiring way about his life and career as a gifted surgeon. His book Gifted Hands is a testament to his talent, perseverance, and generosity. I highly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about Dr. Carson or who needs some motivation and encouragement in their own lives.

Ben Carson was our role model in high school, when we all wanted to become medical doctors and surgeons, Hmmm.
Our love for him was when we read “Gifted Hands”, the novel circulated around my class and we loved it. We all wished to be like him, to overcome our obstacles and pursue our dreams untill we get there.

But as fate will have it, some of my classmates are now studying mass com., engineering and social sciences. Nobody wants to be Ben Carson anymore😊. We all have our own God-designed goals.

“Gifted Hands” is a nice book as you said, very inspiring and motivating!

Everybody like to associate with good, I always find myself going through his books over and over again .
