Mixed school over its counterpart.

in HiveGhana4 months ago

Hello, everyone.

I never attended a single-sex school because my parents did not really support the idea for Reason, best known to them, I attended different schools but all mixed-sex. Then, while growing up, I really wished for my parents to take me to a single-sex school. A few of my friends attended and had lots of stories to tell; some of these stories were really unpleasant, and my desire to attend a single-sex school started to die off. I started to appreciate my mixed school a lot.

Some people claim they sent their kids to a single-sex school to cut down on distractions, but one thing I know is that the opposite gender is not the major cause of distractions or causing a child to drift away from the main purpose of being in school. One of the major causes of a child drifting away is peer influence from friends, and kids in both single-sex and mixed-sex schools always have friends. This helps prove that whether in a mixed school or a single-sex school, any child that wants to be distracted will definitely be distracted. The school they go to does not really determine if they get distracted or not.

For every child, there are lots of benefits that come with attending a mixed school, one of which is the opportunity to interact and associate with the opposite gender. Many who attend a single-sex school always find it very difficult to associate with the opposite gender because it is not something they are used to or exposed to. Mixed-sex school helps keep them straight and not join the other community, but single-sex school actually deprives them of the opportunity to interact, and stories from friends who attended single-sex school are not really pleasant. That does not mean things like that don't happen in a mixed school, but with the opportunity to interact and relate with the opposite gender, it is reduced to the barest minimum.

In some way, I'd say mixed schools also help to promote gender equality among students; it helps both genders to see the light and cease from having some archaic beliefs deep rooted in their brains where one gender is weaker than the other or one gender is more important than the other. When the female gender competes with the males in grades and so many other things, it makes a lot of them, with some archaic belief, understand that the female gender are not weak vessels like many were made to believe they are, and with that, they get to treat them like equals and not the other way around.

Also, mixed-sex schools help build a solid foundation for friendship and relationships. I know a few school friends that started as friendships and schoolmates, but today they are lifetime partners, and some are even business partners. This is one of the biggest benefits mixed-sex schools offer. You get to meet your soul mate. Relationships, or friendships, from school have a very solid foundation because both parties must have known each other forever. Understanding each other's likes and dislikes won't even be an issue anymore.
