Exam and exploration on my birthday: A memorable experience

in HiveGhana2 years ago

So it was my birthday yesterday (5th March), and I had an exam. This is not the first time such a thing is happening. The last time I wrote an exam on my birthday was in my third year in school, and that was one of the toughest exams for me. The exam was so bad that I just went straight home that day after writing and slept till the next day. I didn't even bother celebrating.

But this time, it was an internship exam. I applied for a physiotherapy internship position at the University college hospital, Ibadan, which is in Oyo state, Southwestern Nigeria. They fixed the exam date for 5th March and when I got the notification, my mind went back to the last time. I kept hoping that this time, the exam would go well and perhaps, I would be able to celebrate with joy.

I live in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, which is in the south-south part of Nigeria. It is very far from Ibadan, where I was supposed to go. I have never been to that part of Nigeria before, and I don't know anyone there, so I was really skeptical about traveling for the exam. I wasn't really ready to undergo such a long journey, especially since I would go by road. Eventually, I made up my mind to go, and I started my journey the day before the exam date.

Indeed, it was the longest journey I have ever undertaken in my life. I spent about 14 hours on the road. It was beyond exhausting. I got to where I was supposed to stay. I tried to study a little even though I was exhausted, but I slept soon enough.

The next day eventually came, my birthday. I woke up grateful and the wishes started coming in, but my birthday wasn't the main thing on my mind that morning. You guessed right, it was the exam (that's one disadvantage of having an exam on your birthday, your attention will definitely be split).

I got to the exam venue, and they hadn't even started. So I took that opportunity to have a mini tour of the vicinity. I must say, the hospital and environs are beautiful. It was a delight to behold such beauty.

At the venue, I got to see a lot of my classmates back then in school. They also came for the exam. It was nice to see them again after a long while since we graduated. It was more like a reunion.

Eventually, the exam started and it went well for me. I was happy when I came out of the exam hall because this time, I wouldn't have to be sad on my birthday. Later that evening, I decided to take myself out and also explore the area better. I was killing two birds with one stone.

The area was beautiful, Ibadan didn't disappoint, and I was happy to I made that trip. Now I can boast that I've been to that part of the country. It was a memorable birthday for me.

I’m glad the exams went well
Definitely the nicest gift you received that day
And 14 hours on a bus sounds exciting for me just that I would have exams anxiety throughout
Happy belated birthday Victor

14 hours on a bus is draining for me though.
