Childhood was really fun and fun of adventures. Our mothers and elders will gather us together and share folktales in which many were made up. One that lives rent free in my head was the story between the tortoise and the dog.
Long time ago, the dog and tortoise where very good friends . They live far apart but usually met at the stream which was halfway to each other's home.
Tortoise: my friend, how are? It's good to see you here.
Dog: I'm good. It's good to see you too tortoise.
Tortoise: i have a party at my home in two days and would like you to come
Dog: Really? that's nice i will be there he said.
Two days later tortoise wife and children set the table because it was a party meant for the family alone. Dog arrived just in time when the table was all set.
Tortoise: my friend you are here at the right time

Dog: Thank you. lets start eating.
Tortoise: Do you want to eat will this dirty paws? Go and wash them and come back we will wait for you.
Dog: Don't you have any water at home that i can use? you know the distance to the river is far, and this food will either get cold or finished before i get back .
Tortoise: Don't worry we will wait now hurry.
The dog rushed to the river to wash himself but, when he came the tortoise told him they were still dirty and he had to wash them again. Because the dog was hungry, he rushed to the stream the second time, washed, and came back. But the tortoise, being cunning, told him to go back and wash again. This time the dog left and went straight home. Promising to get even.
Few days later they met at the stream again and yhe dog invited bim to his own party
Tortoise: am not happy the way you left my friend you didn't even taste the sweet food my wife made.
Dog: Sorry, my friend. I had to rush home something came up. I have a party at my home tomorrow which is starting by 1:00pm and ending by 2:00pm please come.
Tortoise: I can't miss your party for anything i will come my friend. Don't worry.
They next day tortoise left his home very early so he could meet up with the time. He got to the to the dog's house panty. But the party was already over by the time he got there but there was still lots of food remaining.
Tortoise: I'm here. How can the party be over when it's not yet time?
Dog: No, i made a mistake it actually started an hour earlier from the time i gave you.
Tortoise: That's fine. Thank God there's still food please serve me.
Dog: I can't, what's remaining is for my family.
Tortoise had to walk back home hungry and tired.
Moral lesson treat others the way you want to be treated .
Tortoise stories always had me laughing back then. As cunning as tortoise was, he was still so dumb. How will you offend someone and still accept their invite? Didn’t it seem like a trap?😂 It’s funny to me.
Likee, he took his friend for a fool. You know cunning always like to believe they are smart
