Hygiene and sanitation is the beginning of good and healthy living. Keeping the environment clean is one of the preventive measures against illness because so many diseases thrive on dirt and carelessness. That is why I believe hygiene should not just be habits but daily practices that protects us and those around us.
Aside from washing your clothes, cooking, cleaning your house, and arranging your house today, these are other things you should pay attention to;
- If you have a deep belly button, take out time to use a cotton bud to clean it.
- If you wear stud earrings 24/7, remove them and clean out the dirt today.
- Look out for your clothes that needs to be mended (maybe torn, adding of buttons, spoilt zip, etc.) and sew them.
- If you have been on natural cornrows for a long time, loosen it today and wash your hair. Then make a new one.
- Sun dry your pillows.
- If your bedsheets do not need changing, at least change the pillowcases.
- While cleaning, pay attention to your windows. Windows are sometimes the most neglected areas. Use a window cleaner brush to brush out the dust in between.
- If you have a standing fan that the cover is removable, wipe the blades and put the cover back
- If you have a ceiling fan, take out time to clean the blades.
- Take out your Waste
- Take out time to shave today.
- Remove cobwebs where necessary
- Discard torn pants and boxers. If you cannot let go of them, at least mend them.
- For those living in a Rented Storey building. Except that you and your neighbors have a roster. Please take out time and sweep the stairs today. (Applies to house owners too)
- If you sweat a lot, you may want to sundry your bed. Do not worry about what the neighbors will say. YOU FIRST!
- Take out damp clothes and dry them.
- Wash your water storage containers (that’s if you store water in your house)
- Arrange your wardrobe if scattered.
- Wash that black bra today.
- Wash those black trousers and polo today.
- Those black socks are tired. Wash it today.
- If you have shoes that need mending, watch out for shoe menders.
- Declutter your wardrobe
- Take out those empty perfume bottles, cream containers, etc, from your space.
Above all, drink water and rest.

Having good sanitation helps keep people healthy and protects the environment. Countries must ensure that everyone has the right to safe drinking water & adequate sanitation.
