Sunglasses, mid-air ninja-like shot. J-Roll was the man.

Jimmy Rollins is an absolute legend from where I'm from in the Philly-ish area. Nearly every kid, baseball fan or not, Phillies fan or not, from my area loved J-Roll. On top of being a beast on the field, J-Roll was often seen smiling, or laughing on the field. He was a positive player his whole career from what I could tell.

Rollins was a player with really zero weaknesses. Rollins was a great athlete and ball player all around. He had great speed throughout his entire career. Rollins had 460 stolen bases including a career high of 47 in 2008. Rollins stole 40+ bases four times, 30+ bases six times, and 20+ bases three times. Tremendous consistency even into his mid-later thirties.

Rollins could hit for a nice average and had some decent power to him as well. Rollins hit 231 home runs in his career, his career high was 30 in 2007, he hit 20+ home runs in two other seasons.

From 2000-2014, Rollins played in 2,090 games in a Phillies unifiorm! He'll forever be a Phillie! Rollins played with the Dodgers and White Sox in his final two seasons but would eventually retire after the 2016 season.

Rollins won the following awards in his career, and won them all as a Phillie:

  • 2008 World Series Champion
  • 2007 NL MVP
  • 3x All-Star
  • 4x Gold Glove
  • 1x Silver Slugger
  • 1x Roberto Clemente Award
  • 1x NL Leader in Stolen Bases

He retired with 2,455 hits, including 511 doubles and 115 triples and a .264 career batting average. Would love to see J-Roll in the Hall of Fame!
