Weekly Review: 15th November - Who cares, its my flippin' Birthday!

in 500 Words a day3 years ago (edited)

Since I quit Drinking in Feb 2019, I have been taking several steps to gradually move towards a happier and ultimately more fulfilling life. It’s a slow process, but I have learned that having accountability is important for me to change. It is in that spirit of accountability that I am writing this review. It forces me to analyse what has actually happened in the past week, what the results were, and then I can decided the next step to take.

This post is probably more for my benefit than it is yours, but who knows, you might find it interesting

Health
So if the title or the image didn't give you a clue, its my birthday today. I'm not really a fan, and don't enjoy celebrating them. As such I am quite happy we are still in Lockdown, it stops me from needing to be sociable haha.

So the diet has gone out of the window for this week, lots of cake and chocolate etc. And my partner can't eat chocolate, so I guess I will have to eat that all to myself! I'm not complaining ;-)

Just as well that I have received some new Running Shoes then... the previous pair was at least 7 years old and it showed. These are only a third of the weight of my previous pair, so that must mean I can run much faster in these? That's the hope at any rate

I also received a couple of new books to add to the 'Library'. I have lots of insect books, but nothing on plants or mushrooms, so that needed remedying so that I can keep learning and gaining more knowledge about the natural world

Both of these books are well illustrated, but don't that that fool you, they are very detailed and in-depth books and will take a bit of effort to work through them to get to an attempt of a correct identification.

I also got some new CDs which I talked about in more detail in this post.

Work
I have just had 11 days off work, and I feel chuffin' marvellous. The break was well needed and well deserved. I have caught up with other chores around the house, and I even managed to put some time in at the allotment.

I'm back at work tomorrow and we will counting down to Christmas (only 6 weeks away). It will be a busy and stressful time and I am apparently obligated to wear a flippin' xmas jumper for the whole of December

Hive
Not much to say on hive, I posted recently about it here in a recent post. I'm still posting regularly, and still delegating most of my HP via @dlease. I am now earning 1.5 Hive in daily interest payments which is good to see.

I'll end that post there and enjoy the rest of my final day off, and go eat some more cake... I'll check in again next week!

Targets for the coming week:
Health: Try out new shoes (try and make up for ALL the cake I will eat)
Work: Just 6 weeks till Xmas, and then we can relax
Hive: More music posts will keep things interesting for me at least

I have some brand new Asics, but haven't tried them out yet. Yours look to be in a similar status!

I was gonna give 'em a run out today, but it was chucking it down... well I say chucking it down, it might have been more like fairly damp drizzle, but thats my excuse and I'm sticking to it. ;-)

I'll give them a go later this week... (need to work the cake off some how!)

Happy birthday buddy, even though you are averse to celebrating. Another good read, and I do feel for you regarding the Xmas jumper. Forced joviality and inclusion in these bloody rituals does my nut in.

Cheers dude. Having a relaxing day inside with nothing happening was really quite nice in the end.

Don't get me started on xmas.... I'm pretty sure its due to working in retail and being surrounded by it for 3 months every year, but I am coming to detest it more and more as the years pass

Happy birthday!!
Eating the whole cake by yourself.. oh the sacrifice :p

Books look great! Knowing myself I would first look at all the pictures.. back and forth :D :D

Thank you!

I know right! Its a tough job but someone's got to do it 😁

The Mushroom book looks to be incredibly detailed, precisely what I needed. Hopefully I will get out next week and find a few local mushrooms so I can start picking and cutting them up and getting to understand them properly

Hah yea.. good it's just once a year ;)
