I think that animals live faster than us since they live a lot shorter life. If you were told that you would only live until 30 would you waste as much energy on working and building a life or would you live harder, party more, eat badly and fuck everything. We are not so different from animals but do it on a longer time scale. The problem with living for so long is that we need to provide for the long term and dont get to live fully.
We need that excitement to live and I think that if you were handed everything that you want then life would get very boring very fast and you would not have that same drive to enjoy it. Just like animals in captivity.
