Hand-colored with colored pencils and markers: R91 Bugle

in The City of Neoxian18 hours ago

A new drawing is popping up here, and this is my drawing of the day. This time, I drew a musical instrument called a Bugle, friends. It's a rare instrument identified by the number R91. I really liked the colorful artwork on this deck. It reminds me of two things at once: a rainbow and the German flag. Although it's neither, 😂. In a moment, I'll tell you a little about the instrument, but first, I want you to see how I created part of the drawing. While you're watching that, I'll tell you a bit about the instrument this deck represents.

Friends, the bugle is a wind instrument, not very well known; I'm sure many of you have never heard of it. It's similar in shape to a trumpet, but it doesn't function like one. That's because, as I've mentioned in some old drawings, trumpets have internal valves and pistons that allow you to regulate the airflow to create the notes. That's what's different here; the bugle has none of that. It's just a coiled tube. But it doesn't have valves. So you're probably wondering how a musician can make music if they can't even control the airflow.

What I find interesting is that it's designed to create a single, specific note. The volume and different tones depend entirely on the player, meaning they blow with varying intensity. For this reason, it's not widely used in the traditional music we all know. It's more for creating signals, like the typical wake-up call in military units or to sound an alert. Even so, some musicians use it in specific genres.

I have a fun fact about the deck: it's the first drawing I've done of those unusual decks that feature a table with the instrument resting on it. Those decks with a table have always intrigued me. And well, today I tried painting one for the first time. So, friends, you've already seen a significant part of the drawing's development. But I'll guide you a little.

In the first photos, you saw how I sketched the drawing on the paper, which consists of a base with the instrument's title and the Bugle itself. Then, in the following photos, you saw how I colored everything with markers and colored pencils. And you still have to see the highlighting with a black marker.

Friends, what did you think of the Bugle playing card drawing? I'll be reading your comments. As always, the instrument is very interesting, and I could spend all day talking about it. All the instruments are incredible, which is why I'm so happy to be able to paint one every day. I'll be back soon.
