The way ranked battles are in this recent time require one to go back to training mode to gear up his/her strategies and skills.
In the just concluded season in splinterlands, I could not reach Diamond ll; in the last 2 seasons, I was able to reach champion lll.
That's to tell you how difficult the game is becoming everyday. I knew when #conclaveArcana is finally launched, splinterlands will become tougher than ever.
This is the reason I decided to use training mode to learn more strategic and skillful ways to keep on winning in splinterlands.
For few days I have been using training mode to train myself! I decide to share one of the tough battles I encountered.
I am using max Dec to fight I training mode because that is exactly where I'm going; morealso, it is good use higher monsters and summoners to learn.
What Did I learn do far?
Every player have particulars powerful monsters and summoners the love to use once they are available in battles: I learn that when I discover that a particular player continued to use the same set of a monsters.
I also encounter such in ranked battles, some player I paired up with continued to use some monsters without changing their strategies.
This made me to understand that once a particular strategy work better and deliver very well players are contented with it.
They come with unexpected strategies: I have seen players with unexpected strategies. The strategies I never imagine! There were battles I blame myself of not using the previous monsters I picked for the battles. After the battles, I was very sure if I used those monsters I selected before changing it, I would have won some of those battles.

Rule of the battle
Four's a Crowd: you can summone maximum of four units. A player can only use maximum four monsters in this kind of rule. That is the reason you could I and my opponent with 4 monsters each. If not because of this rule, I could have used more than four monsters despite 17 mana cap in the battle.
Are you not Entertained?: you can summone one additional Gladiator.
In this case, even though you did not use a Gladiator summoner, one gladiator card would be available for you in this battle; and that was the reason I selected Fina Voxom.
Without this rule there was no way I could have used a gladiator card in this battle.
Super Sneak: All melee units have sneak (target the enemy unit in the last position).
Sneak monsters attack from behind; and all the melee monsters in this battle attacks a monster in the last position except, melee monsters in the first position of the battle.

To manage the 17 mana in this battle, it was necessary for me to picked Chaos Agent. Chaos Agent is a 1 Mana monster with amazing abilities!
The abilities made it difficult for opponent's monsters to eliminate it in the first round. The dodge ability was the reason Cursed Windeku and Soul Strangler missed the attack in the first round.
That was what gave me monsters opportunity to attack and destroyed the monsters that would have damaged all the armor of Dumacke Orc because of his shatter ability.
Dumacke Orc

Level: 10 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Shield, Retaliate and Thorns
Speed: 2 ⚡⚡
Health: 1 ❤️

It was awesome opportunity to use *Dumacke Orc” in this battle. One thing I was happy about was that my opponent did not use a magic monster; magic monsters are nightmare to Dumacke Orc because they attack the health directly.
Since the shatter ability was eliminated before it attacked Dumacke Orc: *Dumacke Orc” was the monster that led the battle to victory.
Dumacke Orc eliminated Soul Strangler in the first round; Soul Stranglermissed Chaos Agent, and due to the backfire of **Chaos Agent, 2 health was damaged from Soul Strangler.
Fina Voxom
Splinter: Fire
Level: 4 ⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Opportunity, Bloodlust, Piercing, Stun and Redemption
Speed: 4 ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Health: 7 ❤️❤️❤️❤️♥️♥️♥️
Attack: Melee
Mana: 5
The abilities of level 4 of Fina Voxom was astonishing! At round 1, it was Fina Voxom that started the attack from my side; it attacked opponent's Chaos Agent and damaged 4 units. It was able to damage the health as a result of piercing.
At round 2, Weirding Warrior; and it stats increased. At the third round, it attacked and stunned Cursed Windeku.
Halfling Refuge
Splinter: Neutral
Level: 6 ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
Ability: Weary and Heal
Speed: 4 ⚡⚡⚡⚡
Health: 4;❤️❤️❤️❤️
Attack: Non-attacking monster
Mana: 1
With healing ability, I believe Halfling Refuge was a perfect monsters to be in the last position. That was the reason I placed it in the last position. Though, there was no opponent's monster that attack from behind; if there was a melee monster that attack from behind, I believe Halfling Refuge would delay it from destroying other monsters in the lineup.
