Real nightmare

Fear paralyzed me as I saw my own limp body on the sidewalk, eyes wide open in an expression of horror.

I staggered back, feeling reality blurring around me. How was this possible?

I looked away from the macabre scene, concentrating on breathing. There had to be a logical explanation.

Maybe it was just an elaborate trick, a sick joke. But when I looked again, the corpse was still there, its skin turning livid in the dawn light.

I decided to go in and examine the body more closely, with a lump in my throat. As I got closer, I could see the details with total clarity: the clothes he was wearing that morning, the same features I saw in the mirror every day. It was me, no doubt about it, though I didn't understand how.

Suddenly, a chilling thought crossed my mind: the nightmare, too vivid to ignore. In it, I was dying murdered in this very place. Could it be that I was actually already...?

A sound startled me, making me jump. It came from the corpse's jacket pocket. With trembling hands, I pulled out a cell phone that kept vibrating. A message flashed on the screen:

“This is just the beginning. You're stuck in a loop, and you'll have to relive your death over and over again until you find out the truth...”

The morning chill turned icy, taking hold of me. As I held the phone, buzzing with new messages, I knew my worst nightmare had only just begun.
