Where do you stand on this situation?

Let’s say in the company where you work, you are the only one your boss trusts very well, and you are very close to him. One day, he calls you into his office and hands you a bag containing 50 million naira, which is equivalent to about 35 thousand dollars. He tells you to go and deposit the money in the bank secretly without letting anyone know, and he assures you that no one else knows about the money.

You take the money, and on your way to the bank, you get a call from one of your colleagues in the office informing you that your boss has slumped and died. You look at the bag of money and get stuck in deep thought about whether to continue your journey to the bank and deposit the money as instructed, divert the money to your own account, or return to the company with the money and report what happened. What would you do?

This is a trend I saw on X and Facebook, and a lot of people have chosen the side they belong to. Funnily enough, many people chose the option of diverting the money to their personal accounts and keeping quiet about it.

While it may look like a good act to keep the money, after all, life has been hard and the money seems like a miracle, I stand with the option of informing the company and returning the money. This is because when the issue eventually arises in the future, it is very easy to trace such money, especially if it truly belongs to some 'deadly' people. This is what we often see in movies, and one can only get away with the money when it rightfully belongs to the deceased boss.

Apart from this, my conscience will not allow me to keep the money because it is purely stealing.
