Religion And Our Culture

Religion is man’s quest for the supernatural. This is believed to be driven by the uncertainty engulfing Hunan's existence. Human beings have been driven all over the ages with this unsatisfied longing and desire for a supernatural being believed to have super powers that could alleviate the natural life problems and challenges.

The history of religion dates very far back. Many countries coin their national symbols based on the religious beliefs of their founding fathers. We see this in our national motors, our national anthems and many more. There appear to be that some countries' constitutions were formulated from the principles of some religious holy books like the Bible and Quran.

The way religion has diffused into our cultural lifestyle has affected virtually everything in recent times. We have been brainwashed by our ancestors to believe in one religion against another. This perception was not properly handled by our fathers because the consequences of their misinformation is really affecting the present generation.

The imbalance in our cultural practices is due to unhealthy religious perceptions. We are living hypocrites! We pretend and behave as if we are in unity whereas our religious beliefs have separated us far from each other. We become bitter and hateful due to wrong perceptions about those who are not in our religion. It looks to me as if religion has killed our cultural heritage and communal lifestyle.

The advent of terrorism moves all over the world can be traced to religious perceptions. Killing and genocidal strides are caused by religion. Religion has turned us against those who should actually be our brothers. We are not cohabiting peacefully. We treat each other out of deceit. We are full of hatred and bitterness. We willingly offer our countrymen to death on the altar of religion. Religion is killing our cultural and communal life.

I will willingly desire to read a response to this from whoever has an opinion. What should we do to recover our trust and peaceful coexistence as people of one nation and culture. If you make a post sharing your take on this subject, tag me. I would love to read it. Thank you for reading my blog
