"Footprints"

The detective spread out
the items he'd gathered
in his office.
They were footprints
of many different kinds of people and animals.
Since a crime had occurred nearby,
he would thoroughly examine
the perpetrator's footprints.
It would likely take days,
but since they would be crucial evidence,
he was absolutely determined
to pinpoint exactly whose footprints they were.

集めたものを広げた
それは人や動物の
多くの種類の足跡だった
この近くで事件があったから
犯人の足跡を
徹底的に調べるのだ
何日もかかりそうだけど
有力な証拠になるから
絶対に誰の足跡か
突き止めてみせるのだ
