Not my meme - dark math

I saw the following this morning for the 5 billionth time... but today it got me wondering...

If those numbers are accurate (and fuck no, I did not check that), what would the COVID death tally amount to in "Trees we don't need to plant"?

And the answer is, at 3,853,590 deaths, we've saved the same as planting 2,435,435,758 trees.

So, there ya go. Next time someone tells you not to use a plastic straw just point at the COVID death tally.

(This is purely for dark humor kicks, and not a reflection on my views or concerns around the pandemic.)

Just think if you were to expand that number out as in how many man hours of labor were saved in not having to plant the trees. How much money was saved by not having to pay people o plant those trees.

Of course the down side is look at how much money the tree growers lost because he could not sell his trees to plant because to many people died so no one was interested any more in planting trees. Then how much tax revenue the governments lost because a whole product industry went bankrupt, but on the bright side the bankruptcy lawyers would make a killing.

For real, what we should be doing is planting hemp. It grows faster, is still a carbon capture, can be used for like a billion fucking things which is a ton more tax dollars and people employed.

Trees are great and all but fuckin hemp is what all those campaigns should be planting
