I did a small power up this time of only 50 Hive. Keep waiting for ETH to go higher against Hive, then I will do some more substantial power ups. For me Hive is my little piggy bank, I definitely don't anticipate it becoming a significant source of income for me any time soon :)
I can't imagine anyone making a living off Hive in a developed country, but I could believe it for other places. I also would rather people save, but if their $5 post can help pay their real life bills, well, more power to them.
I have been slowly selling most of my HBD for HIVE so I have little left. These prices are just too good. Of course if HIVE continues to drop, this decision will come back to haunt me. But let's assume $1 is just around the corner!
It's pretty rare that people make that $5 though. They could, if they grew their account, but I am just not seeing it. It's always a red flag for me when people aren't at least leaving a little of their HIVE powered up.
Great job on the HPUD. You can't live off of Hive in the US, that much is certain. Especially earning as little as we do now. It's still fun and a creative writing exercise that keeps the brain active which is what counts! Saving is important, and fewer people are because they aren't earning enough to cover the rising costs. Social Security isn't going to be able to support us all either at the rate things are going, so provide for yourself is what I think we have to do here in the US.
It does look like you added in some great food pictures today, that turkey looks great as does the egg white omelet! I hope you had a great long weekend, and today we get to watch the price of silver climb towards $60. Too bad we can't get Hive above a dime at the moment...
HBD interest is still a great rate, the question is how much longer can we afford to be paying out that extra Hive to cover the HBD? Maybe if some true fiscal controls were put into place for the DHF, but it may be too late. Time will tell!
Thank you. No, I wish just one of my alt investments would do something. That might make me feel a little more comfortable. The egg white omelet was my wife's. I went with the real thing! The turkey is what I grilled up for the in laws for Thanksgiving dinner. Yeah, I need to keep an eye on HBD in case things start to go south. It actually might be a good time to move a lot more of it into HIVE. I don't know.
It's a joke in my family--I never know what day of the week it is. Yesterday I powered up, thinking it was Dec 1. Well, anyway, I powered up :))
As for helping this platform to grow. I guess we are all here for different reasons. I'm attached, emotionally. If people stampede toward the door they will make their fear a reality. I work harder, if I see trouble. I don't pull back. I curate for two communities and try to spread the goodies around so that more people are having a positive experience here. If we care about this platform, then we should look I think around and try to lift others in this bear market so that there is incentive to stay.
I love the food pictures. But, enough food!!! I was really bad. Not cake and cookies, but lots of stuffing, cranberry sauce and olives. My weaknesses.

Sounds like it was a wonderful holiday for you. I did eat quite a bit, but probably not as much sweets as I normally do this time of year. The next month will likely be more of a struggle! I'd like to see more people focusing on growing their accounts. I think that has always been an issue here. I know I am not going to change it alone, but if I can at least spread some education about why growing your account is a good idea, then that can't be a bad thing.
I dream of $20 on a post :) Yes, I have had it at times, especially when the price was much higher. I see little point in taking funds out as I don't think $HIVE will totally crash and I believe it can improve.
