RE: The Art Of Self Destruction

in The Pub15 days ago

I see young people with family, small children, not caring about the consequences of their reckless behavior.

This resonated with me. I was at a birthday party on Saturday. Quite a few people brought their kids with them, and one guy got so drunk and abandoned his 2 year old child to whoever would be around to look after her. Then the word went round that he'd thrown up right in front of where the beer was being served... so the staff had to deal with that, friends had to clean him up, and other friends were looking after the little girl who, thankfully, was oblivious to the drama her father was creating...

My heart is aching reading your comment, even though I don;t know the little girl. How can a parent be so irresponsible? When you're alone, you do what you want with your life, but when you're responsible for minors, that's not an option anymore and you have to be the best version of yourself.

I forgot to include this in my post, but last year I talked to a lady who said she's been weight loss dieting for years, when she was younger, but then her daughter got to an age, where she could understand things and she had to give it up, to avoid being a bad example. I have huge respect for her for that. Unfortunately some people are not fit to be parents. I hope the little girl is ok.
