I don't think it's the fault of the laptops since you said they're only a few years old. Also, since you can only go to work in September, can't work send a laptop to your home to continue the work?

Not quite as the laptop needs first to be secured before working on it. They are high on security and responsibility, so it requires to go in person. But I hope I still can squeeze some life out of the work laptop, out of 10 retries it succeeds to work 1 time. My personal laptop seems to work a little bit better, so I hope to substitute with that somehow.
