RE: The Rock Orchestra: One Giant Mistake

Oops! Sorry to hear it wasn't what you hoped for. If it's the sort of music someone likes then maybe they could enjoy it. I think a lot of folk like a spectactular show. A fair few musicals we could see in London are basically new versions of popular songs. I went to the Green Day one with my daughter who is a fan. It was okay.

As for the show we went to, it was a Bowie tribute band so we enjoyed the music and they played it well. I just thought the candlelit aspect was irrelevant as we couldn't see candles from where we sat. We've seen a few Bowie tribute shows and this one was about the music rather than imitating him. They even played some of the later stuff that I quite like.

I think we definitely need to give it a go when I can find the right show. While I do enjoy a good production, I am such a fan of music that I would prefer to just listen to some talented musicians do their thing. I think that's part of the reason I like jazz so much. We enjoyed the music in this one, the presentation was just a bit off for us.

I attempt to play jazz, but it's a lifetime quest. My band are playing on Sunday along with a more experienced band.

Have fun! I'm trying to decide if I want to try and go to a jazz festival somewhere in the US this fall.
