Splinterlands Report Card S165.png

Splinterlands Season 165 brought another huge windfall of $SPS and lots to write home about. But just to be clear, I am posting this report at the last possible hour because Season 166 is about to end, while the S165 I'm writing about stretched back from August 15 - 31.

Again, like last season, I automated as few Wild battles as possible to preserve the majority of my energy for Modern ranked play. I also stayed on top of Survival Mode, playing battles every 48 hours to allow most of my collection to come off of cooldown for each Survival session. Lets jump into the numbers.

Due to the strength of the new liquidity bots in Modern Ranked, I did not make it back to Champ 1, finishing the season at 4000 rating and with a high-water mark of 4160. My win rate was just a touch above even at 51.5% over 419 battles, good for 62nd place on the Modern leaderboard.

In comparison, the automated service compiled an insane 71.6% win rate in Wild over just 67 battles. Due to changes with the leaderboard system, I did not qualify for an end-of-season ranking because I did not play 100 Wild battles. Oh well.

Finally, in Survival Mode, I finished with a 59.3% win rate over 226 battles. I had a season-high rating of 4600, but dropped back to 4440 in the last few hours chasing a few extra wins with 100s of cards on cooldown.

For S165, I broke back above the 10K mark, earning 10969 SPS in prize payouts from the 25 events I registered for. I'm still fleeing from way too many events, missing Day 1 of nine events and Day 2 of five more. It blows my mind that I am still able to earn this much SPS when missing battles from over half of my events. If only I had enough time in my day to play "all" of my battles, who knows how much SPS I could take home in a season.

For the second straight season, I took 1st place in the Modern Silver Gold Foil tournament. This format has been my brawl fray for nearly three years straight, so it is a nice feeling to win the event again after recently switching my main account to the Modern Gold Gold Foil brawl fray. Based on the 25 events I entered, I earned about 439 SPS per event. That average increases to 609 SPS per event when removing the tournaments when I fled from Round 1. Just think if I had the time and attention to battle in all the tournaments I signed up for... I could make a run at 20K SPS for sure. Maybe one day!

Just look at those beefy Ranked rewards numbers! 17871 combined SPS earned from all three formats is a huge tally.

The lion's share came from Modern, where I earned 9464 SPS at a rate of 22.6 per battle and 43.8 per win.

In Wild, I earned a modest 773.6 SPS from just 67 battles, working out to 11.5 per battle and 16.1 per win.

Finally in Survival, I earned 7633.8 SPS from 226 battles, which translates to 33.8 per battle and 57 per win. It is a shame that Survival is going away for a remodel, because these last few seasons, I was really bringing home the bacon!

Brawl Rewards534.393
Land Rewards5692.985

Good golly, those SPS land rewards continue to climb higher. I haven' t added any new workers to my two occupied plots for the past few months, so this number is growing organically as other land owners continue to wane their SPS mining. What started closer to 2K SPS is now close to 6K SPS per season. That is a huge tally considering I am mostly self-sufficient with the harvesting of other resources.

For the record, I recently downvoted the new proposal to extend SPS staking rewards. I think it is completely unnecessary. We still have those bogus vouchers, so when the SPS reward pool for staking ends, I'm happy to just be rewarded with vouchers for staked SPS. There are many more important SPS rewards to worry about, like validators, ranked, tournaments, brawls, and even land.

Season 165 might be one of my highest single-season SPS inflows in all my years playing Splinterlands. I brought in 25773 SPS from all the various reward pools and another 10969 SPS from @sps.dao tournaments. The combined total of 36742 SPS earned in S165 at today's spot price of 0.008 USD amounts to nearly $294. With 24 seasons each year, that total would amount to over $7K of SPS earnings for a full year of Splinterlands gameplay. If you're not getting a piece of this action, why not?! It is by far the most fun and exciting TCG in Web3. Don't miss out!

Until next time...
