Santa Rosa es un pueblito ubicado al sureste de Barquisimeto, en el estado Lara de Venezuela, aqui se encuentra el Santuario de la Divina Pastora, advocación de la virgen maría. Cada 14 de enero sale desde este pueblito, una multitudinaria procesión. Días previos a este evento mariano, Santa Rosa se llene de colores, alegría y se vive una constante fiesta.
Santa Rosa is a small town located southeast of Barquisimeto, in the state of Lara in Venezuela, here is the Sanctuary of the Divine Shepherdess, invocation of the Virgin Mary. Every January 14th, a multitudinous procession leaves from this small town. Days before this Marian event, Santa Rosa is filled with colors, joy and a constant celebration.
Este año se realizará la visita 166 de la imagen de la Divina Pastora a la ciudad de Barquisimeto, para ello se lleva la imagen en procesión acompañada de miles de feligreses. La tercera procesión mariana más grande del mundo, superada por la que se hace en México (virgen de Guadalupe) y la virgen de Fátima en Portugal.
This year the 166th visit of the image of the Divine Shepherdess to the city of Barquisimeto will take place, for which the image is carried in procession accompanied by thousands of parishioners. It is the third largest Marian procession in the world, surpassed by the one in Mexico (Virgin of Guadalupe) and the Virgin of Fatima in Portugal.
Visitar Santa Rosa previo a la procesión es un excelente plan para cualquiera, seas católico o no, pues las fiestas no solo se enmarcan en lo religioso porque el lugar están hermoso que puedes aprovechar para comer algún postre, tomar fotos en la plaza, disfrutar de la hermosa vista desde el gran mirador hasta el Valle del Tío Turbio, entre otras actividades.
Visiting Santa Rosa before the procession is an excellent plan for anyone, whether you are Catholic or not, because the festivities are not only framed in the religious aspect because the place is so beautiful that you can take advantage of it to eat some dessert, take pictures in the square, enjoy the beautiful view from the great viewpoint to the Tío Turbio Valley, among other activities.
Lo ideal es ir por la tarde entre las 5 y 6 pm donde comienza a caer el sol y el atardecer es hermoso. Puedes llegar en auto propio, o algún transporte público que te dejará en la entrada donde te recibe un hermoso arco con la silueta de la Virgen.
The best idea is to go in the afternoon between 5 and 6 pm where the sun begins to set and the sunset is beautiful. You can arrive by car, or public transportation that will drop you off at the entrance where you are greeted by a beautiful arch with the silhouette of the Virgin.
Mientras comienzas la corta caminata hasta la plaza del pueblo, vas encontrando comerciantes que te ofrecen imágenes alusivas a la Virgen, souvenirs del pueblo, entre otros artículos que llamarán tu atención.
As you begin the short walk to the town square, you will find merchants offering images alluding to the Virgin, souvenirs of the town, among other items that will catch your attention.
Es casi obligatorio acercarse a la imagen de la Divina Pastora, la virgen es bajada de su nicho semanas antes de la procesión, cada año tiene un atuendo nuevo, incluso el año pasado tuve la oportunidad de visitarla junto a mi familia y su vestido era de color rojo intenso con detalles dorados mientras que este año es azul como el cielo con muchos detalles en pedrería parece un vestido de la realeza.
It is almost mandatory to approach the image of the Divina Pastora, the virgin is taken down from her niche weeks before the procession, every year she has a new outfit, even last year I had the opportunity to visit her with my family and her dress was bright red with gold details while this year it is blue like the sky with many details in rhinestones looks like a royal dress.
Nuestra llegada al santuario coincidió con el inicio de una misa, vimos cómo se hizo un hermoso pasillo para recibir al sacerdote, pues la aglomeración de personas en estas fechas es tanta que apenas tienes espacio para caminar dentro de la iglesia.
Our arrival to the sanctuary coincided with the beginning of a mass, we saw how a beautiful aisle was made to receive the priest, because the agglomeration of people on these dates is so much that you barely have space to walk inside the church.
También se adaptan espacios para recibir a los artesanos que ofrecen diferentes piezas alusivas a la festividad, puedes encontrar desde accesorios como pulseras, aretes, collares, camisas hasta réplicas de la Divina Pastora elaboradas en madera, yeso o en otros materiales. Cada rincón del pueblito vale la pena explorarlo.
There are also spaces adapted to receive the artisans who offer different pieces allusive to the festivity, you can find from accessories such as bracelets, earrings, necklaces, shirts to replicas of the Divina Pastora made of wood, plaster or other materials. Every corner of the village is worth exploring.

Es cierto que estos festejos son dignos de ser vividos, seas religioso o no, por mi parte hace mucho no me presento en una jornada así, pero tus fotografías reflejan lo mismo que yo vi aquí, en Argentina, alegría, unión, respeto y hasta jornada de trabajo para los artesanos.
