I did something unexpected some Days back, it was unexpected because I didn't plan it. There was a call for volunteers to work at a construction site and they needed 10 people but could only get 8.
Since it was a working day, and most people will be going to work, nobody wanted to add extra stress to their schedule.

We arrived on time, for breakfast and briefings.
Something in me just said raise your hand, and I did.
And honestly? It turned out to be one of the best experiences I’ve had in a long time.
A Very Early Morning Start
I woke up very early to cook food for my son, and my husband offered to drop him at school so I could meet up with time. It was about a 45-minute drive to the construction site, and we were told to arrive early enough for orientation and breakfast with the construction team.
I and the other volunteers arrived on time, we had breakfast, listened to the briefing, and prepared for the job.

I noticed how everyone was so organised, coordinated and safety conscious.
We were also instructed to come with our safety kits, which wasn’t a problem for me because if you are not an engineer, just marry one ( the kits were proudly borrowed from hubby).
After getting fully kitted, my safety shoes even became a topic of admiration everyone loved them and of course they asked how I got them.
Learning a Real Skill.
I was assigned to the iron department, and we worked under the guidance of an expert. He taught us how to measure with the tape and read the tape, before now I didn't really understand that tap.
I learnt how to measure and mark rods, how to cut them, how to bend them to the required angle and How to straighten rods properly.
All the iron we prepared was for the construction of a space where water tank are kept.
I felt really good and happy learning something completely new and doing the hand on work. I genuinely enjoyed every part of it.

My partner took this photos of me while working.
I had already informed the site overseer that I need to leave on time to pick my son from school. The usual closing time was 5pm, but I was permitted to leave by 3:45pm.

I also took pictures and videos (we were allowed to, just for memories), and I’ve shared some of them for you to see.
I feel so proud stepping out of my comfort zone, because of that I learnt new skill, I met amazing people, I challenged myself physically and above all I created a memory I will never forget.
All images are mine, i edit the first photo with canva app.
This looks so goodd
It's very nice that you chose to voluntarily volunteer. You were able to help and also gain new skills for yourself. 💯💯
Yes it was.... I had so much fun.
I could see from your pictures that you enjoyed yourself.
I just finished my degree in Civil Engineering so I resonated with your post
Wao congratulations bro, being an engineer isn't an easy task to accomplish.
I hope you celebrated it?
Lol. Sadly I didn't celebrate
That's why I'm keen on making money
I hope to celebrate more wins in the future without funds being a constraint.
Thank you for congratulating me 🤗
My Induction as a graduate engineer is January.
Would it be okay if I reached out to you on Discord? I’m trying to build my network and would love to connect.
That's Okey
💯
It's my first time to see construction women💪! I automatically played Woman's World when I saw your blog! Glad you enjoyed being a volunteer
Thank you.
Over here many women are into construction.
That's amazing. It's nice you volunteered to work in the site, like this now you've learnt how to bend irons. Kudos. Sha, don't bend my boy's legs o. 😂

😂😂😂😂😂 no I wouldn't do that.
