I'm actually laughing my heart out as I write this. π€£ I can't recall the last time I had the most epic wake-up call like the one I had this morning. Lol.
The gods - rather Luchyl must be crazy indeed! Lol.
So I thought my annual leave started today, and I was vibing to the holiday mood. I didn't even bother checking my calendar or anything, I just rolled out of bed this morning, feeling refreshed and excited for the day. I even slid into Neoxian city discord channel and to catch up with friends.
As a lurker, I was greeted with a mix of curious and surprised reactions. Some folks asked if I was new, wondering why they hadn't seen me around before. But old some old folks were excited to see me, and that's when I slipped it in that I was off work for some days and thought to come for some catching up. If only I knew how wrong I was. Lol.
I even joined one of the appreciation giveaways hosted by @mathewdaddywah for his birthday. Happy birthday to you once again and success in your exams. Unfortunately some looters clinched the prizes, so I wasn't lucky. Lol. It would have made my day if I had.
After the fun chit chats for some minutes, I got off and did some stuff around the house, and even planned out my day. I was gonna make some chin-chin, and equally tend my garden. Weeds were already invading my pumpkin vegetables so I needed to handle them and also stake the vegetables.
So armed with my machete, I headed to the nearby bush, to cut a few sticks for the stakes. I was just chilling with nature until reality hit me like a ton of bricks. I was like, 'Wait, what's today's date?! And then it hit me... today is the 11th and I'm supposed to be at work!
"Damnit Luchyl! You're screwed!" I shouted at no one but myself! Lol.
I quickly gathered my things and rushed back home to prepare for work. A couple of minutes after, I was ready and on my way to the office.
On the way, I began to process how I forgot about work today. I was like, "How did I miss this?" How did I forget a day as important as a work day? Could it be due to the vibe from the long weekend or the excitement of going on leave? It's definitely the later.
I managed to get my behind to the office, and explained the situation. Luckily, they were cool about it, and we even joked that the euphoria of having a break must've clouded my judgment, haha.
All in all, it was quite a busy day but a productive one as I clinched some advertising deals. I hope I won't forget an important day ever again. Lol.

LOLZ! I have to admit I've not done that, but I can remember, especially as a kid, waking up thinking it was a Saturday and unfortunately, it wasn't.
I've also woke up within the past year occasionally, thinking it was another day of the week rather than the one it was, but it didn't impact me being late to work, or say going to church on the wrong day.
When it's close to time for vacation or a couple of days off, I call it 'short timers', for your head just isn't in the game anymore, but off on some mystical journey you've been anticipating.

What a fun read! Reminded me of a time when the company asked me to take leave a week earlier, so I agreed, but totally forgot. Everyone was surprised to see me arrive at work on my 1st day of leave. I was gobsmacked, and left all reduced to catch the next bus back homeπ

I have never forgotten a work day but I have on several occasions , forgotten about my rest days. I'll still prepare as if going to work only to recall when I'm almost heading out the door...

Wow, thatβs hilarious but I can totally relate! Sometimes, even when we plan to relax, reality just hits out of nowhere. The important thing is, even when we make mistakes, we learn from them and still manage to do whatβs right. Maybe next time, just set an alarm or reminder so it doesnβt happen again, and keep being productive! Best regards
