My Saturday was a whirlwind of activity, a delightful blend of academic challenges, unexpected downtime, and the sweet reward of a much-anticipated treat. It all began at 12:30 PM with my Emerging Technologies class, a subject that always manages to be both intellectually stimulating and surprisingly fun. Today was no exception.

The class kicked off with a spirited game of Kahoot!, a digital quiz platform that injected a healthy dose of friendly competition into our learning. Instead of the usual letter choices, however, our answers were represented by a colorful array of shapes: circles, diamonds, squares, and hearts. This playful twist added an element of surprise and visual appeal to the quiz, making the learning process more engaging and less like a traditional exam. Each group designated one member to navigate the Kahoot! website and select the answers, adding a collaborative element to the activity. The pressure was on for that designated member to choose correctly, and the tension in the room was palpable as we all waited with bated breath for the results of each question. It was a far cry from the usual lecture format, and it certainly kept us all on our toes.

Following the invigorating Kahoot! session, we transitioned into a more creative challenge. The task was to choose a common daily gadget and propose innovative improvements. This required us to think critically about existing technology, identify potential flaws or areas for enhancement, and then develop creative solutions. We brainstormed ideas, debated the merits of different approaches, and ultimately settled on a concept that we believed was both practical and innovative. The presentation phase was equally engaging, as each group presented their unique ideas and fielded questions from our peers and instructor. The collaborative nature of the project allowed us to learn from each other's insights and perspectives, enriching the learning experience significantly.

Next on the agenda was my Research class, which, much to our surprise, turned out to be unexpectedly vacant. Our instructor had a prior commitment, leaving us with a large chunk of unexpected free time.

Rather than letting this time go to waste, we decided to engage in a game of Uno, a card game known for its simple rules but surprisingly complex strategy. However, our initial attempts were met with confusion. Even after a well-intentioned (though ultimately unhelpful) explanation from one of my classmates, we found ourselves struggling to grasp the nuances of the gameplay. A quick YouTube tutorial proved to be our saving grace, providing clear instructions and visual demonstrations that finally illuminated the rules. Once we understood the gameplay, we were hooked. One round of Uno, however, proved to be surprisingly time-consuming; it took us a full hour to complete a single game. The unexpected delay, however, only added to the overall fun and camaraderie of the afternoon.

The afternoon concluded with my Applied Social Technologies (AST) class, a subject that delves into the ethical considerations of the modern workplace. The class culminated in a rather lengthy quiz—a daunting 100 questions, administered twice! This unexpected challenge significantly impacted our plans for the evening, as my friend and I had been eagerly anticipating a trip to try the legendary Halo-Halo Shank, a local dessert known for its unique blend of flavors and textures.

The quiz finished at almost 7:08 PM, leaving us with a tight schedule to reach our destination before the store closed.

Despite the unexpected delay, we managed to make it to the city and to the Halo-Halo shop. However, our hopes for the Halo-Halo Shank were dashed when we learned that they had sold out for the day.

Undeterred, we decided to order other delicious drinks and treats. I opted for an avocado graham, a rich and creamy delight. Kate chose a refreshing mango graham, while Crystal and Evita shared a taro ube drink, and Edwin, Crystal's boyfriend, ordered a strawberry-flavored beverage. To complement our sweet treats, we also shared a club sandwich and a generous portion of french fries, savoring each bite as we reminisced about our first year of college and looked forward to the challenges and adventures that lay ahead in our third year. It was the perfect ending to a busy but ultimately fulfilling Saturday.
