Shaheed Dibas and International Mother Language Day celebration.

As a Bangladeshi, 21st February holds a special place in my heart. It is a day to honor the sacrifice of those who gave their lives for the recognition of our mother language, Bangla. This day is celebrated as both International Mother Language Day and Shaheed Dibas (Martyr's Day). As a way of paying tribute to those who sacrificed their lives for our mother tongue, I decided to spend the day in a meaningful way.

Early in the morning, I woke up to the sound of the national anthem being played on the radio. I felt a sense of pride as I joined millions of others across the country in singing along to the tune. After breakfast, I dressed up in traditional Bangladeshi attire, which includes a white Panjabi and pajama. I then made my way to a nearby Shaheed Minar, which is a monument built in honor of the martyrs who died during the Language Movement in 1952.

When I arrived, I was greeted by a sea of people who had come to pay their respects. There were people from all walks of life, young and old, who had gathered to remember the brave souls who fought for our right to speak our mother tongue. I joined the crowd and offered flowers at the base of the Shaheed Minar, which is a traditional way of showing respect to the martyrs. After spending some time at the Shaheed Minar, I decided to visit a local school where students were participating in various cultural activities. The school had organized a poetry recitation competition, which was a fitting tribute to the language martyrs who used the power of words to fight for their cause. I was impressed by the talent of the students who recited poems in Bangla with such passion and emotion.

Book fair

In the afternoon, I decided to visit a book fair, which is a common feature of the Language Movement Day celebrations. The book fair had a wide variety of books, including those written in Bangla as well as other languages. I spent several hours browsing through the books, picking up a few that caught my eye. As I walked through the fair, I felt a sense of joy seeing so many people coming together to celebrate our language and culture.

The program featured traditional Bangladeshi music, dance, and drama performances. I was thoroughly entertained by the talented artists who performed on stage. The program ended with a moving rendition of the national anthem, which left me feeling emotional and proud to be a Bangladeshi.

The sacrifices made by the language martyrs must never be forgotten, and it is our duty to ensure that their legacy lives on. By celebrating our language and culture, we can honor the memories of those who gave their lives for our mother tongue The day was very joyful and pride.
