Back in my hometown

I arrived in my hometown yesterday afternoon. It was only my younger brother who knew of my coming, as we both planned not to tell anyone, but to surprise them. And yes, they were all surprised to see me. It’s another moment to reunite with my family even though we aren't much this year - many of them didn't come around. Although, some are not in the country.

I have decided not to come, too, for several reasons, and I needed to stay back to prepare for the new year and start afresh with the assignments on my hands but later changed my mind. My Dad wasn't around when I arrived, but when my younger ones called him on the phone to ask where he was, hearing that I was home, he started rushing home. He was excited that I came.

There is no change whatsoever in the village, just as I left it last time, but everywhere was sparkling clean. Kudos to my siblings for doing the job of cleaning the whole house. I checked the back of the house, and I discovered they've removed the nets that were used to cover the small garden we have.

Here is cassava that was planted by my uncle last year and I was told goats ate most of them, but they could only harvest these ones.

I saw our big coconut trees and the coconuts are very much on them. While some are still not ripe, others have, and my sister had pluck almost five coconuts and ate amongst themselves before I came. I pleaded with her to help me with some so I could take them along. I love coconut, especially eating it with bread. Have you eaten this combination before?

I came outside this evening and met my sister and cousin peeling some oranges. They helped me peel two and they were very sweet with much water in it. The oranges were brought home by our late grandmother's brother who also came today to celebrate with us.

I will be staying for a few days and will go back next week to start the new year with a positive mindset and walking with God all through the year 2026. How is the season with you? Did you also travel?
