MEANING OF STRESS: stress is a strong feeling of worry that prevents one from relaxing. It could be headache caused by too much load of work. Stress-related illness, emotional or mental stress is often a factor in the development of long term sickness. Stressors can be positive or negative.

WHAT CAUSES STRESS?

  1. Feel lot of pressure
  2. Facing different changes in life.
  3. Worried about something.
  4. Not having much control over your outcome.
  5. Having too much responsibilities which at times are overwhelming.
  6. Experiencing discrimination or hate or abuse.
  7. Being unhappy in your work.
  8. Losing a job
  9. Environmental factors
    10.Lack of emotional support.
  10. Relationship difficulties.
    SYMPTOMS OF STRESS
  11. You may have difficulty in breathing.
  12. You may have Panic attack.
  13. You may have sore eyes.
  14. Sleep problems.
  15. High blood pressure
  16. Headache
  17. Dizziness

UNHEALTHY WAY OF COPING WITH STRESS

  1. Smoking
  2. Drinking too much alcohol
  3. Over eating and under eating
  4. Withdrawing from friends, families and social activities
  5. Using pills or drugs to relax
  6. Sleeping to much
  7. Procrastinating
  8. Taking out your stress on others

HEALTHIER WAYS TO MANAGE STRESS

  1. Avoid unnecessary stress:
    a. Learn to say “NO”. Do not take more you can handle.
    b. Limit the amount of time you spend on things and people that stress you.
    c. If you easily get upset over some issues, learn to cross them out of your conversational list.
    d. Learn to ask for help when necessary.

  2. Alter the situation
    a. Try as much as possible to alter stressful situations.
    b. Try as much as possible to change things that may lead to stress.
    c. Learn to communicate and share your problems to people that can help you.

  3. Adapt to the stressor
    a. Set reasonable standard for yourself and others.
    b. Change yourself by changing your attitude.

  4. Accept the things you cannot change
    a. Never try to change thing which cannot be changed.
    b. Always let go of your anger and resentment.

4.Try to have some “me time”
5.Always help others that are in need of help
6.Try as much as possible to have healthy diets
