My family and I are planning to take a walk around La Asunción and enjoy the murals and the Christmas spirit that is already spreading across much of the island. We've been planning this since yesterday, Friday, because on our way back from work we passed by quickly without stopping, and I really liked the atmosphere there. The lights, the colors, the people walking around with smiles on their faces, and that fresh air that heralds the arrival of December completely enveloped us. It was like a silent invitation to come back more calmly, to let ourselves be carried away by the magic that can already be felt in every corner.
I also wanted to tell you about my last day of work this week, because although it was a quiet day, it was full of lessons learned and moments worth sharing. As the weather was very bright at dawn, we left early, enjoying the journey and appreciating our surroundings. As I have mentioned before, after a rainy night, everything is more beautiful in the morning: the trees shine with dewdrops, the air is fresher and cleaner, and even the colors seem more vivid.

Mi familia y yo tenemos planeado dar un paseo por La Asunción y disfrutar con detenimiento los murales y del aire navideño que ya abrasa a gran parte de la Isla. Desde ayer viernes lo tenemos previsto, porque al venir de regreso del trabajo pasamos rápidamente sin apenas detenernos, y me gustó mucho el ambiente del lugar. Las luces, los colores, la gente caminando con sonrisas y ese aire fresco que anuncia la llegada de diciembre, nos envolvieron por completo. Fue como una invitación silenciosa a volver con más calma, a dejarnos llevar por la magia que ya se respira en cada rincón.
Quería también contarles cómo fue mi último día de trabajo en la semana, porque aunque fue una jornada tranquila, estuvo llena de aprendizajes y momentos que vale la pena compartir. Como el clima amaneció muy radiante, salimos temprano, disfrutando del camino y apreciando todo nuestro entorno. Como les he comentado antes, después de una madrugada lluviosa todo es más hermoso en la mañana: los árboles brillan con gotas de rocío, el aire es más fresco y limpio, y hasta los colores parecen más vivos.
We had to go to Sunsol Unik, where we worked most of the week. Our main task was to activate the filter and the sludge remover, as their proper functioning is essential to maintaining water quality at the hotel. We just had to check a leak caused by a screw in the joint, as a new guy on the maintenance team had accidentally tampered with the keys. These things happen, especially when you're learning, but it's important to be vigilant to avoid major complications.
When we arrived at the hotel, we realized that the situation was not as serious as it seemed. However, it was good that they called us, because the excess pressure had loosened several screws, and one of them was leaking. We quickly corrected the fault and took the opportunity to implement some preventive measures to prevent something similar from happening again. We even took photos of how everything should be correctly installed, so that the guys who will be operating these two filters have a clear visual guide and can acquire the knowledge and skills necessary to handle the valves safely.
Teníamos que ir a Sunsol Unik, donde trabajamos gran parte de la semana. Nuestra tarea principal era activar el filtro y el desbarrador, ya que su correcto funcionamiento es esencial para mantener la calidad del agua en el hotel. Solo teníamos que verificar una fuga que se produjo por un tornillo de la junta, ya que un muchacho nuevo del equipo de mantenimiento había manipulado las llaves por error. Son cosas que pasan, sobre todo cuando se está aprendiendo, pero es importante estar atentos para evitar complicaciones mayores.
Al llegar al hotel, nos dimos cuenta de que la situación no era tan grave como parecía. Sin embargo, estuvo muy bien que nos llamaran, porque el exceso de presión había aflojado varios tornillos, y por uno de ellos se notaba el salidero. Corregimos la falla con rapidez y aprovechamos para implementar algunas medidas preventivas que evitarán que algo similar vuelva a ocurrir. Incluso tomamos fotos de cómo debía estar todo correctamente instalado, para que los muchachos que operarán estos dos filtros tengan una guía visual clara y puedan adquirir el conocimiento y la destreza necesarios para manipular las llaves con seguridad.
The day didn't involve much physical effort; rather, it was about teaching, sharing what we know, and training the team. And that's also rewarding. Knowing that you're planting a seed of learning, that you're helping others grow and develop, is a priceless satisfaction.
When we finished, we went home with a sense of accomplishment and a great desire to rest. We needed it.
El día no fue de mucho esfuerzo físico, más bien se trató de enseñar, de compartir lo que sabemos, de formar al equipo. Y eso también es gratificante. Saber que estás dejando una semilla de aprendizaje, que estás contribuyendo a que otros crezcan y se desarrollen, es una satisfacción que no tiene precio.
Al terminar, nos marchamos a casa con una sensación de deber cumplido y con muchas ganas de descansar. Ya lo necesitábamos.
That's when my husband had the brilliant idea of stopping by La Asunción to buy some sweet bread at a bakery that had been recommended to him. And that's how, upon entering this beautiful municipality of Arismendi, I was pleasantly surprised. From the car, I could see some of the murals that embellish the place, which seem to speak from the walls. Everything seemed so full of life and meaning to me.
That's why we agreed that we would return at a more leisurely pace during the weekend. Because art cannot be viewed in a hurry; you have to stop, observe, and feel. We want to walk through its streets, take photos, enjoy a coffee in a plaza, and let ourselves be enveloped by that Christmas spirit that is already in the air.
Fue entonces cuando mi esposo tuvo la brillante idea de pasar por La Asunción con la intención de comprar un pan dulce en una panadería que le habían recomendado. Y fue así como, al entrar a este bello municipio de Arismendi, me quedé gratamente sorprendida. Desde el auto pude apreciar algunos de los murales que embellecen el lugar, que parecen hablar desde las paredes. Todo me pareció tan lleno de vida y significado.
Por eso acordamos que volveríamos con más calma durante el fin de semana. Porque el arte no se puede ver a la carrera, hay que detenerse, observar, sentir. Queremos caminar por sus calles, tomar fotos, disfrutar de un café en alguna plaza y dejarnos envolver por ese espíritu navideño que ya se siente en el aire.
