This past Monday was a holiday here in Venezuela, marking the canonization of Saint José Gregorio Hernández and Saint Carmen Rendiles. It was a very meaningful day for many, filled with spirituality. However, for me, it was a workday like any other, since hotels never slow down, even on holidays. Hospitality never rests, and those of us who work in this sector know that consistency is key.
The streets were a little empty, which made traffic flow quite smoothly, something that is appreciated on routine days. In the area where I live, the weather was cloudy, with a cool breeze that invited calm. However, in the municipality of Gómez, the sun was shining brightly, illuminating the landscape and creating an interesting contrast between the two areas.
Les mando un saludo cargado de gran positivismo para esta semana que recién comienza. Que cada día esté lleno de oportunidades, aprendizajes y momentos que nos acerquen a nuestras metas personales y profesionales.
Este lunes que culminó fue feriado acá en Venezuela, con motivo de la canonización de San José Gregorio Hernández y de la Santa Madre Carmen Rendiles. Un día muy significativo para muchos, lleno de espiritualidad. Sin embargo, para mí fue un día de trabajo como cualquier otro, ya que los hoteles no detienen su ritmo, ni siquiera en días festivos. La hospitalidad no descansa, y quienes trabajamos en este sector sabemos que la constancia es clave.
Las calles estaban un poco vacías, lo que hizo que el tráfico fuera bastante fluido, algo que se agradece en días de rutina. En el sector donde resido, el clima estaba nublado, con una brisa fresca que invitaba a la calma. Sin embargo, en el municipio Gómez, el sol brillaba con fuerza, iluminando el paisaje y creando un contraste interesante entre ambas zonas.
When I arrived at the hotel, the quality technician on duty was waiting for me, as the rest of the department was enjoying their well-deserved day off. We didn't have to wait long to start our work, so we headed straight to the main tank. My husband, always enthusiastic and willing to help, accompanied us with his characteristic energy.
Al llegar al hotel, me esperaba la técnico de calidad que estaba de guardia, ya que el resto del departamento estaba disfrutando su merecido día libre. No tuvimos que esperar mucho para comenzar con nuestras labores, así que nos dirigimos directamente al tanque principal. Mi esposo, siempre entusiasta y dispuesto a colaborar, nos acompañó con su energía característica.
Before going up, we checked the electronic scale to make sure everything was in order. Since it wasn't necessary for all of us to be there, he decided to stay downstairs. As for me, I couldn't help but go up, since I'm responsible for performing the manual check, a task I like to do myself to make sure everything is running smoothly. Although we are all trained and prepared, I admit that I am very particular about this procedure.
After taking the initial measurements, we added the appropriate amount of hypochlorite. Then, I took a second measurement to check the values so that I could leave with peace of mind. Seeing that the DTS was within normal parameters, we decided to descend from the main tank. All that remained was to finalize our technical report to close out the day.
Antes de subir, chequeamos la báscula electrónica para asegurarnos de que todo estuviera en orden. Como no era necesario que tuviéramos todos, él decidió quedarse abajo. Yo, por mi parte, no podía dejar de subir, ya que me corresponde realizar el chequeo manual, una tarea que me gusta hacer personalmente para tener la certeza de que todo marcha bien. Aunque todos estamos capacitados y preparados, reconozco que soy muy celosa con ese procedimiento.
Después de realizar las mediciones iniciales, colocamos el hipoclorito correspondiente. Luego, hice una segunda medición para verificar cómo habían quedado los valores y así poder marcharme tranquila. Al ver los DTS dentro de parámetros normales, decidimos bajar del tanque principal. Solo quedaba asentar nuestro informe técnico para cerrar la jornada.
Before going down, as always, I took a moment to contemplate the beautiful views from the top of the tank. From there you can see the beach, the hotel, and even the Hesperia Margarita. These are truly spectacular views that make me feel privileged to be able to enjoy them. Not just anyone has access to that tank, which makes that moment of contemplation even more special.
Antes de bajar, como siempre, me tomé un momento para contemplar las hermosas vistas que se aprecian desde lo alto del tanque. Desde allí se puede ver la playa, el hotel y hasta el Hesperia Margarita. Son panoramas realmente espectaculares que me hacen sentir privilegiada por poder disfrutarlos. No cualquier personal tiene acceso a ese tanque, lo que hace que ese instante de contemplación sea aún más especial.
The work was quite comfortable, as we had the necessary staff and everything went smoothly. I really enjoyed working that day; it was an enjoyable, productive day without any setbacks. When we left the hotel, we passed by the lagoon, which I love to look at. It gives me a feeling of peace and relaxation that is difficult to describe. As it has rained a little in recent days, the lagoon looked fuller, which made me think that it will soon be adorned by pelicans and pink flamingos that usually arrive when the weather is favorable. It is a natural spectacle that always excites me.
El trabajo fue bastante cómodo, ya que contamos con el personal necesario y todo fluyó de manera excelente. La verdad es que me gustó trabajar ese día; fue una jornada amena, productiva y sin contratiempos. Al salir del hotel, pasamos por la laguna, que me encanta observar. Me transmite una sensación de paz y relajación difícil de describir. Como ha llovido un poco en estos días, la laguna se veía más llena, lo que me hizo pensar que pronto estará adornada por los pelícanos y flamencos rosados que suelen llegar cuando el ambiente es favorable. Es un espectáculo natural que siempre me emociona.
So, feeling calm and satisfied with the work we had accomplished, we made our way back home through Portachuelo. It was a productive day, full of little moments that remind me why I love what I do.

The weather is nice, so it’s a good time to travel. Sometimes we tend to value work more than attending events. It can be refreshing too, and if you work, you still earn a salary.

It fills me with satisfaction to know that my work can bring joy to others. That feeling of contributing positively to the enjoyment of those who visit us is truly rewarding.
