Fun Birthday Event with a Cultural Theme

Hello Hive Lovers in the world, how are you? I hope you are all well, always healthy and happy. Oh yes, today I want to share my experience in running a travel community, but not about the travel but my experience in participating in being an important part of the community's birthday celebration at that time. That was the most enjoyable part, being a trusted person and assigned to important matters is an honor. For me, this is a beautiful and useful moment.

This celebration will take a national theme, each team is asked to bring a culture from a region in Indonesia. In this community there are several teams called RT. Each team has administrators and members, like a housing complex. Well, each of these teams will bring a culture that must be displayed. This time my team got the West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) area, with our team ready to form a committee for this task. After being divided into management, the chairman immediately made a task plan and also a person in charge, and this is where I was assigned as the person in charge of the dance arts and culture that will be displayed as one form of culture from NTB.

After the meeting and getting our respective tasks, I immediately found out what dance we would perform and what the choreography would be like. After analyzing everything, I started choosing a partner to dance with. I offered some of my friends, and they agreed to dance with me. At that time I proposed the idea of Lenggo Dance, one type of dance from the Bima and Dompu tribes which is their cultural identity. Lenggo Dance is not just an ordinary dance, this dance shows elegance, friendliness, and respect for guests, while maintaining traditional values that have been passed down from generation to generation. Well, after getting a partner, we started practicing dancing so that when the event arrived we could confidently perform it.

Some of my other friends also had their own tasks, some prepared historical objects from NTB, some collected souvenirs typical of NTB and some learned the NTB regional language so that we looked more convincing. This was very challenging for us, because other teams would definitely do the same thing. So we didn't want to lose and tried to do our best for our team's performance.

It was time for the event to start, everyone was ready with their respective tasks and responsibilities. The event started in the morning, and we prepared from the night because we had to build a tent and prepare all the equipment for our performance. We started by building a traditional NTB house and also some typical accessories from NTB, we prepared with all the clothes and make-up like native NTB residents. There were two representatives from our team who wore traditional clothes for the fashion show, representing men and women in typical NTB clothing. So did I who prepared to wear traditional clothes to prepare to dance.

Without realizing it, one by one all the events had been carried out, and we were ready to end the event. We ended the event by spending time together, singing and dancing together with the strains of the national anthem and also regional songs. Yes, this awakened our nationalist spirit, and became proud of our country, even though there were many shortcomings but we were proud that we were one of the citizens of Indonesia.

Yes, that was my experience when holding an event with community friends. Something that I will never forget, and will always remember forever. All of this will be an eternal story, and a memory in my life. There are many things that I learned from this activity. Becoming more compact, learning to work together, learning to be more responsible, sincere, and keep fighting to give the best. I hope all of that can become my character in the future. I am very excited in telling the story, because the memories are spinning in my head again. 😇
