Today I want to share with you a new experience I embarked on this weekend. Several weeks ago, my nephew asked me to help him work at a hot dog stand he wanted to open near his grandmother's house, since it's a busy place. I worked in fast food for a long time here in Venezuela and Colombia. And food is one of my specialties. 🌭
After several days of thinking about it, I said yes, but on one condition: only until he became an expert; That is, I'll teach him how to become an expert at making hot dogs, and as he gains experience, it'll be his turn to take over the reins of his business.
I've decided to take on this short-term commitment because I work Monday through Friday and would like to have the weekends to rest, run errands, and spend more time with my children, take them out, and enjoy those two days off. Of course, I'll accompany my nephew as often as necessary because he's a boy who needs guidance, and I'd like him to be successful in his business venture, since he'll soon start school and will need to generate some income.
I'm very proud to teach him something I consider myself very good at. I love food, and preparing it is one of my best skills. My role is simple: to teach my nephew all the secrets to preparing high-quality hot dogs quickly and, above all, with that seasoning that makes the difference. I want him to learn to be efficient, how to manage inventory, and, most importantly, how to treat each customer in a special and unique way. My mission is to leave him ready to run the business on his own with complete confidence.
This weekend was our big debut. We set up the structure, got to work, and opened to the public. For our first weekend, it went very well. Locals came out with curiosity and left with a smile and a delicious hot dog in hand. Some came back for more. 😚😋
The most important thing is that my nephew has already begun to see what it's all about making hot dogs and everything that goes into it. I've told him that hygiene has to be paramount, as well as treating customers well. Also, the ingredients have to be of the highest quality if we want customers to come back.
During this time, we'll be working side by side, sharing not only the workday, but also the expenses and, of course, the profits. It's a partnership in which we're both investing time and effort to help the project get off the ground successfully. If after these two weeks I see that he's confident, keeping the right pace, and handling unforeseen situations, I'll give him my blessing to remain in charge alone.
For now, I'm enjoying this temporary return to selling food, sharing my experience, and, most importantly, watching my nephew forge his own entrepreneurial path. Hace varias semanas mi sobrino me planteó que lo ayudara a trabajar en un puesto de perros calientes que quería colocar cerca de la casa de su abuela, ya que es un lugar muy transitado. Yo durante mucho tiempo trabajé en negocios de comida rápida aquí en Venezuela y en Colombia. Y la comida es una de mis especialidades.🌭
Después de varios días pensándolo le dije que si, pero con una condición , solo sería mientras el se vuelva un experto; es decir, yo le enseñaré a ser un experto en preparar los perros calientes y cuando el vaya agarrando experiencia, le tocará tomar las riendas de su negocio.
He decido asumir el compromiso por poco tiempo porque estoy trabajando de lunes a viernes y quisiera tener los fines de semana para descansar, hacer algunas diligencias y pasar más tiempo con mis hijos, llevarlos a pasear y disfrutar esos dos días de descanso. por supuesto, acompañaré a mi sobrino las veces que sea necesario porque es un chico que necesita que lo guien y quisiera que tenga éxitos en su emprendimiento, ya que pronto comienza sus estudios y va a necesitar generar algún tipo de ingresos.
Para mí es un gran orgullo enseñarle algo en lo que me considero muy buena, me encanta la comida y prepararla es una de mis mejores habilidades. Mi rol es sencillo: enseñarle a mi sobrino todos los secretos para que prepare perros calientes de alta calidad, con rapidez y, sobre todo, con esa sazón que hace la diferencia. Quiero que aprenda a ser eficiente, a manejar los inventarios y, lo más importante, a tratar a cada cliente de manera especial y única. Mi misión es dejarlo listo para que maneje el negocio por su cuenta con total confianza.
Este fin de semana fue nuestro gran debut. Montamos la estructura, nos pusimos manos a la obra y abrimos al público. Para ser el primer fin de semana nos fue muy bien. La gente de la zona se acercó con curiosidad, y se fueron con una sonrisa y un delicioso perro caliente en la mano. Algunos volvían por más.😚😋
Lo má simportante es que mi sobrino ya empezó a ver como es el movimiento de hacer perros calientes y todo lo necesario. Le he dicho que la higiene tiene que ser lo primordial y tratar bien a los clientes, además que los ingredientes tienen que ser de la mejor calidad si se quiere que el cliente vuelva.
Durante este tiempo, estaremos trabajando codo a codo, compartiendo no solo la jornada laboral, sino también los gastos y, por supuesto, las ganancias. Es una asociación en la que ambos estamos invirtiendo tiempo y esfuerzo para que el proyecto despegue con éxito. Si al cabo de estas dos semanas lo veo seguro, con el ritmo adecuado y manejando las situaciones imprevistas, le daré la bendición para que se quede solo al mando.
Por ahora, estoy disfrutando este regreso momentáneo en la venta de comida, compartiendo mi experiencia y, lo más importante, viendo cómo mi sobrino construye su propio camino emprendedor. Les iré contando cómo evoluciona esta sabrosa aventura que estamos iniciando. Si están por la avenida, no duden en pasar a probar los mejores perros calientes del sector.🌭
