Good afternoon brethren. It's my pleasure to have you here.
I'm glad to be a part of this week's contest. Thanks to everyone who voted for me during the previous contest.
This week's theme is amazing. We're asked to write on Confidence and self-esteem. These two qualities are so unique in the sense that they help make someone look responsible.
What is Confidence?
Confidence is the act of believing in your abilities in whatever you're doing.
Anyone who's said to possess this quality should be bold enough to act or say something in the presence of anyone.
One who is confident has nothing to do with fear and stage fright.
Self-esteem, on the other hand, refers to the honor and respect that is always awarded to someone based on his or her character.
Anyone who has this quality doesn't behave anyhow in public to avoid ruining his or her reputation.
Self-esteem is like an asset. Once you lose it, you will become a topic of discourse in society. Anything that is an asset would be valued.
I want to use my own experience to write on this theme.
When I was in senior secondary school two, I was appointed as the senior prefect for girls. But the funniest part was I wasn't in school the day I was appointed.

So immediately after school, my friends came to my father's house and told me that the principal appointed me as the senior prefect for girls.
They were asked to tell me that when I came to school the next day, I should come prepared that I was going to address the entire school.
I was so afraid to do that because I'd never done that before. But my friends told me that I can.
The next day was Tuesday, I went to school very early, and all the junior students who knew me came and hugged me.
They told me they were so excited when they heard the principal called my name as the senior prefect for the girls.
I thanked them. But before I could leave that place another set of students came and congratulated me. They also told me they were looking forward to hearing a speech from me.
Immediately after that, a bell rang, and I went to the devotion ground to give my speech. I was so bold, and I was able to comport myself.
I could see how my speech became an interactive session. My junior students asked me a lot of questions, and I answered.
My principal and other staff also asked me questions, and I answered them.
When I finished my speech and I was about to step aside, my principal came and thanked me in front of everyone.
He told them that he was glad that I didn't lose my self-esteem because some people thought I would.
This is in response to the week 22 prompt on the Hive_ reachout community.
I invite @preciousgold and @inibless to join this contest.
I remain @joyben.
I can relate to this when I was in school I was the sanitary prefect that fear of facing the crowd to give a speech is something else. I'm glad we're able to do it.
