Ok, I have spoken too much on experience is the best teacher. Now it's time to talk about one thing I have learnt in this life and I learnt it recently, thank God it's not too late to pick up the pieces because it may cause people to drift apart or even fight is not properly talked about. Remember from the beginning I said wisdom and understanding is the best teacher, now allow me paint a scenario of wisdom and understanding is the best teacher for you. Growing up I literally did yes ma, yes sir all through my life, don't get me wrong it is a good thing which shows you're a good child, but as the saying goes "too much of everything is bad".
I was never listened to, I was pampered growing up until I entered secondary school but..... That now inculcated this habit of always wanting to express myself at any given opportunity, it is a good thing to be able to express yourself but again "too much of everything is bad" . It was so serious that I started having issues in my relationship, I always want to lash out, I always want to explain myself, until my partner sat me down one day and said "instead of trying to express yourself all the time, try listening" and it has helped me in a great way. A lot of the time when I feel like I need to express myself he allows me to express myself while listening without interrupting, and when I'm done he will either praise me, pet me or chastise me.
That aside, I had a friend who was really down and she was just lashing out and I told my partner about it and all he said was "you know what to do" I had to go back to her, started with a greeting and some irrelevant conversations then went on to ask her how she really is, mind you the first time I was trying to give her advice on how to go about it but now I just allowed her to talk, she poured out everything and I allowed her talk and when she was done, the same solution I offered her before was same thing I said and she took it in good faith . She said "thank you" . That was when I knew that
The act of listening does a whole lot.
I have never been on her shoes to experience what she is going through but by wisdom and understanding her situation I was able to solve the problem partially.
