Hive-Reachout Weekly Prompt 63 “A Mistake That Wasn’t”

in Hive Reachoutlast month

Life has a unique way of proving to us that not every wrong turn is actually a loss. Sometimes, what we call a “mistake” ends up being the very pathway that molds us into stronger, wiser, and more resilient individuals. Over time, I’ve come to see that God often hides blessings in what we initially fear, regret, or misunderstand.

I can still remember a moment in my life when I made a decision that felt completely wrong at first. Many people around me couldn’t understand why I took that step, and even I doubted myself. It felt as though I had chosen failure before the journey even began. Yet, as the days unfolded, I realized that what I thought was a setback was actually a stepping stone. That so-called “mistake” repositioned me in ways I could never have planned, and it opened doors I never imagined would exist.

That experience taught me patience, because nothing changed overnight. It taught me humility, because I had to admit that I didn’t have all the answers. Most importantly, it taught me to trust the process, even when the road seemed uncertain. Looking back, I see that if I had avoided that path out of fear of being “wrong,” I would have missed out on valuable growth and relationships that have shaped who I am today.

Sometimes, a mistake that wasn’t is just an experience that arrives wrapped in confusion but contains the seed of growth within it. Life is full of such moments, btimes when we stumble, only to rise with new wisdom. Instead of regretting every wrong step, we should ask ourselves: What did this teach me? How can I use this to grow? These questions shift our focus from regret to reflection, and from failure to growth.

The truth is, many of the things we label as mistakes are simply part of the learning curve of life. We learn by trying, and trying means risking failure. But each time we risk, we also create space for hidden opportunities to show up. A mistake that wasn’t is simply a reminder that growth is not always neat, it can be messy, uncertain, and even painful. Yet it is in those very moments that the deepest lessons are hidden.

So today, I choose to celebrate the so-called “mistakes” in my journey. They are not scars of failure but evidence that I dared to try, dared to grow, and dared to live fully. Looking back, I can confidently say that what once looked like a mistake was actually a blessing in disguise, a gift that only revealed its value with time.

Truly some mistakes are not really mistakes as we tag them. Some are also intentionally staged
