Freediving at Malapascua's Coral Garden

Hello everyone!

Welcome to another freediving video! It's been a while since I posted something. It has been a roller coaster 25 days, but I'm happy to be able to sit down and post something. I won't detail what happened because everything was chaos. Good thing I found my zen mode again just like in this video.

To be honest, I didn't have any good expectations after the freedive because when we were there the first time, there was an infestation of crown-of-thorns starfish that lead to the bleaching of the corals. I think they were able to contain it because the corals are much healthier now.

The coral garden is located in a shallow part of the sea at the north of the island. It's not like in Moalboal in terms of structure, but it's just as amazing. The carpet of healthy corals extends for miles. I had fun just snorkeling most of the time because it's too shallow to freedive.

I guess that's all for this video! Kudos to @indayclara for the awesome edit and an excellent choice of music!

Salamat po!

Beautiful @ybanezkim26 it truly looks so serene and relaxing.
Good to hear they could contain the infestation. Are they planning on restoring that part of the corals?
Have a wonderful day today 👋🏻☀️

As far as the guide had told me, there was no plan from the local government to restore the bleached corals. Coral breeding and restoration is really lacking here so I understood why. They will just leave it as is and let nature heal itself.

Ok, thank you for that information @ybanezkim26
That’s a shame… but understandable in a way. Some just can’t or don’t have the means too at this moment.
Hope it will restore itself 🥰 nature is powerful.
Have a great day today ☀️👋🏻

The Hivebuzz proposal already got an important support from the community. However, it lost its funding few days ago and only needs a few more HP to get funded again.

May we ask you to support it so our team can continue its work this year?
